Great 1 on 1 ; You Gotta Look Like What You’re Selling” — A 1-on-1 That will change your IG Mindset
Added 2025-08-22 18:53:50 +0000 UTC🎯 Main Reason I Booked This Call:
I needed clarity on how to scale my brand, especially my Instagram and how it’s coming across. Just got booked for my first travel shoot—two clients in Indiana—so I’m really trying to level up, be intentional, and make sure my digital presence reflects where I’m headed, not just where I’ve been.
🔑 Biggest Takeaways:
1. My IG Looks Too All-Over-the-Place
The feedback was honest but necessary: my page doesn’t clearly communicate what I specialize in.
I got portraits, maternity, group shots, events—it's giving “I shoot everything,” and that can make potential clients unsure if I’ll really lock in on their vision.
His advice? Choose a main niche or two and curate the feed to reflect that. Everything else can go on separate pages.
“You want people to know exactly what they’re gonna get when they land on your page.”
2. Instagram = Hook | Website = Depth
Stretch broke it down perfectly: Instagram is to draw them in. The visuals have to hit.
Then, the website is where people see the full scope of what I offer.
My website’s actually solid—it gives a better sense of my work than my IG does right now. I just need to clean it up a little visually and update my photo (I don’t even look like that anymore lol).
3. Page Setup Strategy
It’s okay to have multiple IG pages if I’m doing different types of work.
If I want to create a “me” page (more personal or BTS) and keep another page for just clean, client-facing content, do it.
Limit each page to 1–2 niches max. That’s how people take you seriously.
“Too much variety on one page confuses the audience. Clean, consistent content builds trust.”
🔨 Action Steps (My First Step Plan):
Go back through my IG and archive or rearrange content to build a more cohesive visual flow.
Separate personal/BTS content from client work.
Keep Grad + Portraits as my main focus for now.
Update my headshot & refresh website visuals.
Look into how to use Pixieset better (maybe try carousels or a grid-style homepage if possible).
Rewatch Zooms using the Table of Contents—pick videos that align with my goals & play them like a podcast while working.
✊ Encouragement from Stretch:
He gets it. He built this from the ground up too.
Didn’t start delegating until recently, and even now, he’s just figuring things out with editors and systems.
Told me not to rely on “friends saying it looks fine”—they mean well, but they’re not in the space I’m trying to move into.
“If the people you’re asking for advice aren’t where you want to be, their opinion can only take you so far.”
🧠 Final Thoughts:
I honestly needed that reset. Just hearing someone say “you’re not crazy for feeling lost, but here’s how to get back on track” hit hard. This gave me that clarity and first step I was looking for. Now it's time to clean up the page, stay focused on my niche, and book that next 1-on-1 once I make some progress.
