Like Tasha said, Yasuke is based on an actual person real life Black Samurai. And there are a lot parts of his real they wove into this anime. He was the first black/foreign samurai in Japan's history. He was a slave of a missionary who arrived to Japan. He did serve under Nobunaga Oda during the Sengoku Period (Warring States Era) in Japan. There was supposed to be a live action movie about his real life with Chadwick Boseman set to play Yasuke. But since his passing the project has been canceled.
