Hey everyone,
This is one video in a two-part collaboration with MinutePhysics. The video on his channel is about Bell's theorem, and our description there rested heavily on the quantum mechanical correlations that arise in looking at the probabilistic behavior of polarized light (though Bell's theorem applies to many other situations as well). So in this video, we lay down some of the foundations for the quantum mechanical behavior and description of polarized light, which I think is a good prototypical example one can think of for quantum states in general.
This was definitely a fun project to work on, though it ended up being unusually time-consuming. Both of these are topics I probably would not have otherwise covered, but I'm really glad to have gotten into each. I also have my friend Evan Miyazono to thank for getting me interested in Bell's inequalities and all of this.
I hope you enjoy!
