Plushie pi creatures are in!

That makes sense, I just have the sincere hope that the quality and focus on the content remain. The benefit that your continued creative output brings to the world is immeasurable. Please don't ever change your channel, it is perfect!

Good to know Vilem, thanks for sharing. Most of the reason I created them is that so many people explicitly asked for them. I understand it's not for everyone. I see commercial things as somewhat orthogonal to the channel itself. My main focus is on producing the best math explanations I can, and different people engage with the content in different ways. The hope is that most take it as inspiration to engage more with math. If some people also enjoy physical associations with content, great. If most people just want to enjoy the content itself without thinking about such things, all the better.

I think it is very generous of you to donate to Grant’s cause. But I think supporting Grant’s cause to produce great material to the general public is not at all connected to whatever merchandise Grant decides to create. People will pay for Grant to continue his cause just like people will buy a plush because they think the plush is cute or are just fans of 3blue1brown and want a physical manifestation of their love for the channel. Like all of us, Grant, too, has to make a living and how he does so shouldn’t deter anyone from supporting his cause as long as he continues to create great videos for the public. But like you said, it’s a matter of opinion.

Hm, I'm not so keen on this merchandise thing. I really love your videos and am supporting you (modestly) even though, with a disabled child, I am in a difficult financial situation because I feel that you are bringing a huge benefit to the world by sharing your insights and knowledge. I feel that these plush creatures sort of undermine your otherwise principled image. This is my personal opinion, other people may feel differently. But if it becomes too commercial, I don't think I will continue supporting this channel. (I'll keep supporting you for now!)

They'd need a cane :) Perhaps if there's a tau-day video, all pi creatures will be replaced with tau creatures.

Nevertheless, I think you are right that this should be more visible from the very start of the flow, so I'll ask them about this.

Store doesn't show shipping costs until you've given them all details and are actually checking out. This is not very friendly (so definitely not on brand for your adorable pi creatures.) Approximate shipping costs up front would lower a barrier to purchase.
