Their dance forms—especially the hands and feet—are so beautifully rendered! As an illustrator and dancer myself I know how hard it is to show the accurate flexibility of dancers and not have it look freakish (trust me I sometimes look at the weird angles my feet and fingers can bend into and am like yeah…that doesn’t look right at all). Also loving the story so far, can’t wait to see what happens next! The Nutcracker is my absolute favorite, I own like way too many versions of it including the original Nutcracker and the Mouse King translated into English from the original German and Alexandre Dumas’ version translated from French. Yes THAT Dumas, the one who also wrote The Three Musketeers and The Count of Monte Cristo. Fun fact, it’s actually Dumas’ version of The Nutcracker from which the ballet was created. (Yes I’m like a huge history nerd about the most random shit, and my friends jokingly call me the Encyclopedia Kattica because of it).

In this special, Grandma is the person who chooses who gets what part in the play. Seeing them dance together as a couple and seeing their chemistry together will make her want them to dance together in the play.

Some things I noticed: "My dancing skills *are* the only thing he'll see!" How does Ansel not know if it's his first time auditioning for an agency? "but I was not going to become tall enough." when Ansel doesn't get to be the understudy. Instead of "I put a blank mind," maybe try "I cleared my mind of everything." Also, there's a panel that's missing from where you swipe through. The part where he stops because he felt Evan's hands.

The Nutcracker is a favorite story of mine (I always wanted to play Clara), I could hear the music as I read through these panels. Sooooo loving where this is going. 😍This is PERFECTION!!!!
