We have some new designs from Monday's episode in our TeePublic store which will continue to update: Magic Tavern merch store
From Arnie:
Went up to Michigan for a weekend of leafpeeping with Emily, as well as celebrated Halloween with the kiddo. But mostly it was a lot of work this month, with the release of the Jackbox Survey Scramble… and the new Fakin’ It physical board game (now available to order on Amazon). Mostly, though, as is often the case with the Jackbox, when a new thing comes out that means we’re already hard at work on the next thing. Currently in preproduction with Tim Sniffen on something for next year (as well as poking my nose into a lot of other projects).
In the comments, what’s the best Halloween costume you saw this year? For me it was a kid dressed as a garbage man with a little dumpster he wheeled around.

From Matt:
October 2024
Spent some time with family. I was helping my mom after a surgery and I made her a Doctor Who fan (or at least cemented her as a David Tennant fan). Had a nice low-key birthday when I got home with Jessye. Also went to the Kane County Toy Fair at the end of the month and had fun picking up some old Kenner Star stuff (cheap stuff I never had a la a kid to fill out my old collection) and old broken Transformers (a project for me to repair in the future).
Audio:
Listened to show tunes in the car when I realized that the car has Sirius and there is a whole Broadway channel. Fun! More MBMBAM. Always go back to that.
Games
As a birthday gift I got The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom. A really fun entry in my favorite video game series of all time.played over the course of a couple of weeks. I recommend it. Also got Animal Crossing and Luigi’s Mansion to experience some older games I skipped, but haven’t taken the plunge yet.
TV/Movies/Web stuff:
‘Twas the Spooky Season and our Food Network watching reflected that: Halloween Baking Championship, Halloween Cookie Bake Off (I think is the title?) and best of all Last Bite Hotel. Tituss Burgess is the host and elevates the host role by making a meal out of his character of the “hotel manager.” Legitimately laugh out loud funny.and of course about 3 seasons of modern DW with mom.
Food:
Haven’t been cooking much but need to get back to it (for health). Also it’s almost the holidays, so look forward to my pie making reports over the next couple of months (so much for health).
Self Improvement?
I’ve been taking a course about Purpose and thinking about what is next. Exciting and kind of reinvigorating. Bought a lot of books to read. Probably too many at once. Stay tuned.
Matt
From Adal:
Here’s what I consumed in October. Let me know if you’ve enjoyed anything recently that I should check out!
TV:
What We Do in the Shadows season 6
Abbott Elementary season 4
Somebody Somewhere season 1 (my sister Sadieh is in season 3 which just released, so I’m rushing to watch the first 2 seasons!)
The Floor season 2
Starting Five
Movies:
Over The Garden Wall - which just celebrated its 10th anniversary and creator Patrick McHale made this new video to celebrate, which I think is worth checking out: Over the Garden Wall | 10th Anniversary Stop Motion Short | Cartoon Network
It’s What’s Inside - Super fun new movie on Netflix, Jemma’s cousin plays ‘Forbes’
Pearl
MaXXXine
The Shadow Strays
Jennifer’s Body - had never seen this and was surprised how funny it was. A ‘Heathers’ vibe to be sure
Other Stuffs:
I Recently guested on The Restricted Section podcast as well as Source Not Found podcast
I went to my very first Ska concert in Madison. A band called ‘I Voted For Kodos’ which was Jemma’s favorite when she went through her ska phase. Pretty fun concert…I finally saw someone skank
Speaking of Jemma, I saw a show she was involved with called The Last Days of Eden Creek. It was an immersive style musical by a local immersive group, Birch House. If you’re in Chicago, I recommend you check out whatever show they put up next!
I had a blast on the Hey Riddle tour and especially losing my mind and breaking my body at Boda Borg in Boston….WUMPLEFRUMP.
I really dig the new ‘straight to album musical’ of the movie The Warriors that Lin-Manuel Miranda just put out called ‘Warriors’. Almost every song is inspired by a different genre of music
Jemma and I have played and enjoyed the new Super Mario Party Jamboree
Read and enjoyed The Wood at Midwinter by Susanna Clarke (highly highly recommend her last book Piranesi if you haven’t checked that out yet) and War by Bob Woodword

2024-11-06 01:05:43 +0000 UTCMatt, I'm looking forward to those pie making reports! Arnie, I dressed up as the impressive clergyman from the princess bride and won my company costume contest, which was clearly the best costume I saw this year... Also a group of kids dressed up as the SpongeBob crew was pretty awesome!

2024-11-06 00:33:44 +0000 UTCI saw three kids in those inflatable trex costumes which never fail to make me laugh, bumping into each other down a driveway on the way to ring someone's doorbell 😆😆😆

2024-11-06 00:03:31 +0000 UTCMy wife Amy and i were dressed in vaguely medieval clothing (tunics cloaks etc) and a (maybe) 12 to 13 year old bob ross came knocking! He even had a painting as a prop! He also informed me that “back then, i doubt they had plastic wrappers!” 😂 the kids are alright!
