Ketogenic diet - Who's doing it?

Hey all,

I've been reading a lot on Ketogenic diets / benefits of Ketone bodies (i.e work by Jeff Volek, Stephen Phinney,  Dominic D'Agostino etc.) and am constantly impressed by the potential of ketones.

My diet has steadily decreased carbs more and more over the past 3 years or so, and I've really gotten into intermittent fasting (eating once per day) for about a year now. Everyone is surely different in terms of how well they process carbs (higher insulin sensitivity etc), and I'm quite sure that I'm more on the "carb intolerant" end of the spectrum. I feel noticeably more alert, focused and have a higher capacity for discipline the more I restrict carbs. (For example, replacing fatty fish [salmon] with 80g of mixed nuts or adding a bit of dairy to my meal will make me noticeably sleepier)

While my diet as of late has been very low carb, I suspect that it hasn't been consistently ketogenic. (I should really just buy some damn keto strips, but they're like 40 bucks here) Doing a protein/carb fast now and may transition into a water fast for about a week or so (depending if there's any effect on productivity)

I can literally feel the keto flu, but for the health benefits I will do my best to surpass it.. I've seen some videos and articles that it all gets better when you get keto adapted, so I'll go for that, btw big fan WIL, Will support you as soon as I get my own visa card lol

I did a 12 day fast which was amazing. Since then, I have been trying to start another, but have not managed it. My appetite is greatly reduced, such that I have one meal a day, but getting back to fasting again is difficult. I have been having one meal, which consists of Tuna or beef steaks and a veggie, but am having difficulty getting back to pure fasting. I am still trying and think I will get there again.
