OxRock Late May 2024 Status Update

Apologies for the silence. I’ve been in Wuthering Waves prison for the past week. Fortunately, I’ve gotten to the point where all I have left to do is wait for my energy to refill and then spend. As for my thoughts on the game, it’s pretty fun. The combat is the highlight of the game and is pretty in-depth once you look into it. There’s also a lot of exploration on launch with different areas being fairly varied, with the movement abilities making it really smooth and enjoyable. Not only that, but gearing via killing mobs gives you a reason to travel the map on a daily basis, which I enjoy. 

Biggest downside right now is the story, with the first hour or so having terrible voice direction in EN and being overall boring. Fortunately, it gets somewhat better over time and the devs have taken that feedback into account for future story content. Along with that, the game has major optimization issues, for iOS in particular, which was bad for me as it caused frequent lagging, freezing, and crashes. It got to the point that I was getting pretty annoyed by the end of it, going so far as to ruin my enjoyment of story cutscenes. That said, since it’s a widespread problem, the devs having been working on fixing those issues around the clock, so it’s only a matter of time until it’s fixed. Best of all, since the problems were so serious, the devs gave out a free 5-star selector for anyone who plays within the first year of the game, which is nuts. 

But yeah, now that I’m not playing WuWa all day anymore, I can get back on schedule. My plan: cowgirls. I have a lot of Squish Drive pictures to finish, so I’m gonna be doing that for the remainder of May and majority of June. I need to finish as much as I can because I’m also gonna be AFK for the end of June into July with the release of FF14 Dawntrail early access and Zenless Zone Zero. To that end, while I’ll be open to accept new commissions, I won’t be able to work on any of them until mid-July at the earliest. So yeah, I’ll be pretty busy for a while. Look forward to more completed works!

In other news, it seems Patreon has done an update to their notification system. Now, I get notifications about all new posts from Patreons that I’ve joined in the free tier, which is… pretty annoying. It wouldn’t be as much of an issue if they let you turn that off from settings, but you need to do that for every creator individually, which is terrible. Mind you, it’s not a terrible idea, as it helps creators who aren’t that good at advertising themselves (to this day, I still see people neglect to post links to their socials and other sites). That said, it anything, I’m more than likely to just unsub to a bunch of creators who I’ve followed, but could never bring myself to join for one reason or another. Anyway, in order to keep people who join the free tier who might unsubscribe because of this in the know, I’m gonna post my updates here, on DA and my website, copy/pasta style!
