One Piece: Episode 720 [RAW]

Zoro vs Pica in the Manga is so much cleaner. Not a god tier fight by any means but it's clean, it feels impactful, and feels like it was all down to the last minute. Great stuff.

Oda def ain't a god. He the GOAT but he ain't perfect. But bruh, the manga is so much better. Especially in certain spots. Anime studios have their own timelines and often the writer is not an executive producer that can make final decisions.

I think you guys have every right to criticize how the anime played the whole Bellamy thing out. The way I see it is that Luffy’s motives have always been about freedom. He doesn’t want to be controlled. Knocking out Bellamy would be doing exactly what Doflamingo wants, in which case he wouldn’t be any better than another one of his puppets. That’s why he gets so upset at the end of the episode. Not that he had to knock out Bellamy, but because by knocking him out he’s essentially become just another piece on the board that Doffy has manipulated.

So here's the thing with the Anime, One Piece is so popular in Japan that even if they Trash the Animation and Art in certain episode, everyone will still watch it. Oda doesn't oversee the Anime, because he's still getting the big bucks from it, so from his perspective its doing well.

Dressrosa is truly top 5 arcs of One Piece, but the anime version really drags it down, the manga is really amazing, hopefully once you guys truly catch up the current episodes, you take your time to read the manga from the beginning, because so much has been reveal that you have to go back to the previews arcs to fully understand the new info, so much foreshadowing that is amazing and shows why Oda is truly one of the best authors.

You guys are definitely right on the fight scenes breakin it up is freaking annoying and ruins the immersion. Unfortunately oda loves doing that, even in the manga it’s always like that where oda always juggling between multiple scenarios. A few pages of this and then he will jump on to a different scene. The anime could have fix that if it’s seasonal but it will never happen and the anime will always be an identical copy of the manga. One chapter per episode with added fillers and a lot of stare downs.

Yeah like others said, it ain't on Oda. He's too busy with the manga to also supervise the anime. That's just an unfortunate reality of having a weekly series. You won't have breaks which is dope but the closer it gets to it's manga form, the more of an issue arises. Either way yall should be good from this point on. You've gotten past the worst of it so be proud lol.

yeah big "surprise" that anime with almost 1000 episodes and still ongoing has sometimes (lot of times) really slow pace ... i mean i start read manga during start of Fishman islad but because i catch up anime and i didnt want to wait for more 🤣 but believe me when anime pace is slow in manga it is not that much better 🤣 if you read week by week ... in my opinion L4can will start hate anime when they catch up 🤣

This arc is so infamous for having an poor adaptation that A LOT of people dropped the anime during this arc to become manga readers. Grandlinereviews did an hr long video of this arc that's worth checking out after you finished this arc.

He leaves open parts of the story or fights for toei to fill in. Toei and Shuiesha know way more about the series than people know even weekly readers. Also it's not just toei, it's Shuiesha and fuji tv as they finance the anime and decide what can and can't be done such as filler

I'm not gonna lie. One Piece is my favorite series of all time. But I legit had to stop watching the anime and go manga only just because of the pacing. Things are stretched waaaaaaay too much in the anime.

One Piece manga is very different from the anime. It’s GOATED because of its manga. The anime fluctuates based upon how well it adapts the series. Dressrosa in the anime just isn’t that great of a adaption. There a lot of moments in it that deserved better animation then it got and a lot of the art could be sloppy at times such as Viola’s 6-head. They truly improved the anime for the most part in those areas but the pacing still isn’t ideal by any means. So basically Oda doesn't really make you wait as much as Toei does. Pretty much every chapter of One Piece ends on a somewhat big moment. An anymore I've seen people discuss the manga is too fast paced at times. Toei just drags a chapter out into 2-3 episodes so it takes forever to get the resolve that is usually at the end of a chapter. But tbh the One Piece anime is just ok. It's fun but not the pinnacle of anime in terms of quality. No one is trying to say the anime’s perfect plus I don’t think criticizing the anime’s pacing has anything to do with Oda so no one should be getting mad at you Lycan.

As far as I'm aware Oda doesn't oversee the anime and how the studio adapts it. He's so busy writing chapters in the manga. Toei animation is really at fault not Oda he has no control on how they pace it.

Yea this is where they basically caught up to the manga so they had to really stretch it out. There is a difference between the manga and anime, it basically is just the studio. If you read it there isn't any faults. The fight was better in the manga.

Dressrosa's pacing is worse bcuz they'll just spent an entire ep making still images and reusing scenes, which is worse when its for characters you don't like (bellamy, pica, etc.).
