Just to be clear about the pun Luffy keeps making: Pekoms is the name of the Lion from Big Mom's crew. Cat Viper's name in japanese is Nekomamushi, so Luffy is calling Pekoms instead Pekomamushi which translates back to Lion Viper, hence why you keep seeing Luffy calling Pekoms by Lion Viper in the subtitles.

For better or worse, the Straw Hats are confident in their ability to protect each other. They aren't interested in trying to learn the ancient language and instead want to hone their own talents, and trust in the ability of the whole crew to keep her safe. Sure if this was a mission of professionals out to reach a target they might think more tactically, but the Straw Hats are just a group of friends out on an adventure to follow their dreams and have fun as a group.

Amenz you have to defend your case better bc you did have valid points. Reading the poneglyph is forbidden and robin didn’t realize that until later on and each of the straw hats have their own skills that they love doing. Even if she offered I don’t see anyone being interested in learning at this point.

This poneglyph I believe has numbers on it. They said it’s coordinates not information a few episodes ago. I don’t think most straw hats would care or be too dumb tbh. But she spent her entire life learning it like most Strawhats did with their craft. I don’t think it’s so easy to teach a ancient language and it’s nuances in a year or two

Also the Goal Post wasn't moved in this situation because Lycan established that the Goal post was " Why does robin keep everything to herself?" which was a very broad Goal Post that could mean anything. Lycan then changed the question later to make himself win the argument.

it would be incredibly difficult and take quite a bit of time which could probably be better spent doing something else. It's like asking "Why doesn't Nami teach the others how to navigate?" The crew trust each other enough to hyper-specialize in their specific tasks.

I sometimes wish I could argue for Amenz. The man occasionally has some really good points, but he doesn’t always argue them out properly. Also, I feel like what he said was totally part of the discussion. Lycan was just trying to shrink the scope of the argument in order to win. Yes, the strawhats are already in danger, but casually spreading that kind of information is probably not the best idea. It’s much easier to focus on and defend a single target. The enemy’s much more predictable when they only have one person to go after. Also, the fact that Robin’s the ONLY one, means that the enemy can’t afford to lose her either. The strawhats have a monopoly. That said, I’d still want her to teach at least one crew member as a backup. It might take several years, but I’ve always been a fan of precautionary measures.

Why doesn't Nami teach everyone how to navigate, why doesn't Franky teach everyone how to properly repair the ship, why doesn't Chopper teach everyone how to use medical supplies, why doesn't Zoro teach everyone how to have the lamest fights, why doesn't Brooke teach everyone how to play music, why doesn't Ussop teach everyone how to be a God? Everyone trusts everyone else to do their job and everyone trusts everyone to help each other cover their weaknesses. Making everyone know how to read the gliffs means they aren't being chased for their bounties/cout, but as well as everyone being a target because they can read. Amenz 100% right.

Also, you can’t forget that none of the other strawhats would give a shit about learning it. 😂 They have Robin. And they believe they can protect her.

Nah fam I gotta agree with Amenz 100%. If you hold the monopoly on all information regarding the ponegliffs, even if other people can get a hold of a stone, they can’t do anything with. If you increase the number of people who know, and one or more of them get kidnapped (ignoring the fact you would want to go save your friend which would be a huge detour) now it becomes a race on who can decipher them first and you’re put on a time limit. The less chances you give the opposition to catch up the better IMO . Love these arguments/discussions tho 😂
