Iโ€™ll try and use more water! Thank you very much! That was very helpful:)

Hmm it might have to do with how much water you apply before carving and how long you leave it to sit ๐Ÿค” I think if you apply more water (and still letting it dry until the color is back to normal) it might work better? I would test that out. Either that or the leather type might just be a bit different. I hope this helps!

Hello! I have a quest About the carving process! Whenever you carve the lines seem pretty thick, compared to mine which are quiet thin, but Iโ€™m using the same type of knife. Do you have any advice on how to make the carving lines look thicker? Thank you!

StormSparrow

I haven't gone through the leather yet, even if it is as thin :) I haven't really been concerned about it either, because I think you have to make surprisingly deep cuts to actually go through :) But it's probably a good idea to make a practice piece first just to get the technique right anyway

I don't personally have any experience with eco-leather and its properties, so I can't give any advice on that specifically - but this binding method should work with pretty much any material as long as it's flexible enough, because the cords and cover boards is really what holds it together + glue/fabric on the spine :) Hope this helps!

When carving the leather, do you have to be careful not to cut all the way through? I think you are using rather thin leather so is this a big concern? I tend to have a heavy hand when working on my crafts so wonder if I need to be more careful in the carving stage.

Is it possible to use eco-leather (here it's called skaj) instead of "normal" one and add details in a darker colour with normal acrylic paint? I want to choose leather in lilac and add some darker places at the edges. :) Would it hold? :)
