WIP - The Director

Alright, the first character this month is, Director of The Grand Archive.

It was of course based on my avatar, which you can see the picture there plus the profile picture I use for Patreon and will be my avatar for this project. The design itself is based on an old character design I did when I worked at a game developer studio, it was a fun activity where every artist made their avatar to both shows off their style and just to get to know each other. I grew to like it and eventually use it as my avatar since then.

But the overall design itself is still too modern for The Archive setting's theme, so this time I want to both put a more fantasy theme on the design and to make it fit with the position as director of this research organization.

The concept would be an artificer/arcane engineer with arcane construct strapped on his back to mostly serve as extra limbs to help his busy work and move around. Some element of his creation actually has been featured in last year Swordtember; there are Incendiary Impact, Spiral Spark, and Spell Scriber. Thus part of his background is already established. Using those existing creations of his, I want to try making a 'trademark' or 'style of design' that he use when making those arcane inventions and incorporate them into his character design.

Right now I'm leaning toward the 2nd design on the first sketch page, and add an exoskeleton spine so that the construct backpack can slide up and down depending on what he needs them to do. Plus, I made the construct and the spine to be able to detach themselves and move independently, this was inspired by both Iron Defender and Eldritch Cannon from a D&D Class - Battlesmith Artificer, and Artillerist Artificer.
