WIP - Seraphic

SO, back to creature creation~

This time these two are the strongest idea that came into my mind. both are the classic monster in both myth and D&D but inserted with an angelic theme. Medieval biblical seraphim have quite a definitive image, beautiful face and pairs of wings and often depicted without a body. Thus, I want to still use that image but twist it a bit into something interesting. Not a celestial being or some divinity, but either a living creature or magical creature that resembles that image.

(and since I have quite a lot of project going on this month, I kinda want to go easy on myself a bit)

SO, the problem is, I love both of them... that's why I want to know your opinion, which one do you think is more interesting and want to see made into the final artwork?

They're both great! I lean toward the second one though, I love angelic designs that lean into the otherworldly and inhuman aspects of them. Combining it with a beholder is also something I've never seen before, so it's especially unique!

thank you for your input~ I am kinda lean a bit toward the first myself since I often try to avoid making straightforward magical creatures. But as a D&D fan myself, how can I ignore a new beholder idea, that's why I'm struggling XD

I can totally see why you like both of them! The first option, looking inherently mammalian seems to be a somewhat more amicable figure. Less bizarre in a way (and I love the way the pose hiding its body behind the wings still creates its "iconic" outline) In comparison the second one is a lot more bizarre and nightmarish. It's like a play on the "Light is Not Good" trope. That said I think I am partial to the first option myself. But I say this as a fan of the Good alignment hahaha
