Item - Lantern of Servitude

Prompt - Hollow
A grotesquely ornate lantern that used to belongs to Alga who is also known as ‘Witch of The Astray’. Alga serves as a guardian of the White forest in the far north region of Argos Tundra. The forest is said to hide a gateway into the astral sea and a place where the border between the material plane and ethereal plane becomes obscured. Many unfortunate creatures and humanoid become charmed and lured into the maze-like tree lines and become lost or died. Alga uses these lanterns to retrieve those unfortunate individuals or guide their lost spirits to either bring them back to their loved ones or release the spirit outside the forest.
These lanterns were originally called ‘Soul Shepherd’ and can only be made by Alga. But one day, one of them was stolen by Ilkus The Soulmonger, a newly emerged necromancer, who uses it to capture and enslaved unfortunate souls for his arcane research. Although it’s later retrieved by a group of adventurers, due to Ilkus’s horrible action and terror to the nearby population, the lantern becomes known as the Lantern of Servitude. Before he was killed, Ilkus manage to create several inferior copies of this lantern, unfortunately, their current location and owner are still unknown and currently under investigation.

This one is based on an old character of mine featured in an artbook titled 'Book of 31 Witches' which was published independently by my circle, Krōma

Yeah, then it can be more potent than a normal lantern when full, but also still giving you the option to only activate a certain number of souls for light depending on what you need?

oh, maybe the light is 10 ft when empty, but increase by the number of the soul inside? what do you think?

Perhaps the lantern could flair light if you are within 5-10 feet of a creature that died when empty?

oh damn, I missed that part... Hmmn... maybe I should eliminate the requirement of having a soul to activate the bright light area then...

Can you only capture a soul if you already have a soul in it? Just curious about the way you get the first soul in this.
