Carapace Crest
Wondrous item, uncommon
This magical crest is usually given to warriors of Nihaya’Khayr who venture out of their homeland. It is imbued with transmutation magic that allows them to hide the unique appearance of their equipment and more easily blend in among society. Some enchanters manage to craft their own version of this crest albeit with lesser quality and ability than the ones made using the cult’s traditional technique.

You can wear this crest as a cloak clasp or belt buckle. The crest has 4 charges. As a bonus action, you can expend 1 charge to disguise all magical items that you are wearing or carrying as mundane versions of those items. The transformation lasts for 8 hours and doesn’t affect the item's statistics or ability. An item turns back to its original form if you are no longer wearing or carrying it, or if you activate an item’s abilities. As a bonus action, you can speak a command word to turn all of your items back into their original form. The crest regains 1d4 expended charge daily at dawn.
Flash Change. As a bonus action, or as a reaction immediately after you take damage, you can expend 1 charge to deactivate the transformation in a mighty shockwave. Creatures within 5 feet of you must succeed a DC15 Strength save or be pushed 10 feet away from you.
Alright, If I'm gonna make a 'kamen rider' theme insect armaments, it won't be complete without a belt and shouting command to transform into your 'true form'. XD
But honestly, this is an item I have really wanted to make for quite some time. Quite a while ago, during a D&D session, one of my players commented on how flashy their magical armor and weapon look right now if they're casually walking in the middle of a market. There are hat of disguise and stuff like that, but I want something that actually temporarily transform the physical form of the equipment so you don't need to worry about people bumping on those invisible insect legs protruding from your armor. And when the time comes, all of you can stand in a row and transform into your flashy form while striking a pose~ XD

Thank you, I'm glad you guys loved that weapon~ :D :D I definitely want more low-level utility items. But It is somehow harder to come up with this kind of item compared to an epic equipment and deadly weapons XD

2022-06-08 11:09:27 +0000 UTCThank you~ :D I recently encounter this problem in my D&D campaign that takes place in modern world (two world collide and mix type of setting) and my player realize that they can't just walk into a bank or mall wearing full plate armor that emits fire every now an then or cloak with wriggling tentacles... thus this is my alternate solution XD

And I've found many people use the disguise spells for infiltration or an escape from the law. Also have loved this whole theme
