Wondrous item, very rare (requires attunement)

The Blood-Bug Barrier is an artificial symbiont created from the core of a Hemogoblin. As a result of a complex process of arcane enchantment and bioengineering, the Biology Department of The Grand Archive managed to create a symbiont version of the ooze’s core that allows a creature to bond with it and gain the ability to produce endoplasm and exoskeleton layer to protect the host and the core from harm. It is still considered dangerous because the host needs to let the core absorb a substantial amount of blood to produce the endoplasm, which could be dangerous if the host isn’t careful.

To attune to this symbiont, you must hold it against the skin on your chest for the entire attunement period, whereupon its tendrils burrow into your chest and bond to your heart. While the Blood-Bug is attached to you, it beats as a second heart, and you stabilize whenever you are dying at the start of your turn.

Blood Barrier. As a bonus action, you can let the Blood-Bug absorb your blood and produce a protective layer and exoskeleton on top of your body. You can roll a number of d10 up to your character level and lose a number of hit points equal to the total. You gain temporary hit points equal to the health lost, and you gain the following benefits :

If you lose more than half of your maximum hit points, you gain a +1 bonus to your AC. If you lose more than three-quarters of your maximum hit points, you gain a +2 bonus to your AC instead.

You have resistance to all damage except psychic damage.

You can’t regain hit points.

These benefits last for 10 minutes, or until you lose all the temporary hit points you gained from this ability. Once you use this ability, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.

Symbiotic Nature. The Blood-Bug can't be removed from you while you're attuned to it, and you can't voluntarily end your attunement to it. If you're targeted by a spell that ends a curse, your attunement to the Blood-Bug ends, and it detaches from your body.

Just to complete the theme, I made an item based on the Hemogoblin. Imagine turning your character into a Blood Lords even for just 10 minutes. Although, the cost you have to pay to do that is certainly not a cheap one.
