Honestly, I just love the 'Kodoku'/poison curse jar concept, so I'm using it for the weapon lore XD
Weapon (Longsword), very rare (requires attunement)
The Rattling Rot is a weapon created using a unique method. First, one must collect 1000 venomous snakes and put them inside an enclosed room or ‘pit’ along with a mix of herbs that would trigger them into a frenzy. Then you wait while the snakes attack and eat each other until there’s only one snake left, a process that could take years or even decades and has a low chance of success. But when you get one healthy survivor, you can use its body to make this sword while imbuing it with powerful necromancy magic while the snake is still alive. This dangerous weapon can inflict a powerful curse that will eat its victim's physical body and life force from the inside. But if they’re not careful, the merciless curse can also affect its user.
—----------------------------------------
You have a +2 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon. It deals an additional 1d10 necrotic damage, and your weapon attacks with this weapon score a critical hit on a roll of 19 or 20 on the d20.
Rotting Curse. Each time you hit a creature with a critical hit, the creature is inflicted with the Rotting Curse that eats its physical body and life force. You can roll a d6 to determine the effect.
1. The creature's movement speed is reduced by 10.
2. The creature gain 1 point of exhaustion. This curse bypasses the creature’s immunity to exhaustion conditions.
3. The creature’s Constitution score is reduced by 2
4. The creature’s Dexterity score is reduced by 2
5. The creature's Strength score is reduced by 2
6. The creature is poisoned for 1 minute. This curse bypasses the creature’s immunity to poisoned conditions. At the start of its turn, while it’s poisoned this way, the creature takes 1d10 necrotic damage. Each time you hit the same creature with a critical hit and get this effect again on the d6, the damage increases by 1d10.
This curse last until the creature finish a long rest or until it’s targeted by a remove curse spell or similar magic.
Double-Edged Curse. When you roll a natural 1 on your attack roll with this weapon. You’re also affected by the Rotting Curse. You must roll a d6 to determine the effect, but on a roll of 5 and 6, you’re not affected by the curse.
