SPIKE progress - some statistics
Added 2018-01-13 17:03:42 +0000 UTCI have done most of my digital SPIKE-related writings in a program called Scrivener over the past two years, because organising individual documents in folders and external harddrives with countless backups all over the place was just... horrible to try and keep track of. With Scrivener I can keep it all in one file that organises it beautifully for me, sort of.
My main Scrivener file is based around the second draft of SPIKE, not including older files from the years before that because most of it is no longer relevant - and also it's far too many files for me to even bother reorganising at this point... Might do it some other time just to make it easier to do backups of in the future, you know?
The notes and ideas I have had for the second draft have been written down or drawn on whatever was available at the moment the idea came up, so while a lot of it is digital, a large - if not major - amount of it is probably in either drawn form or as handwritten notes.
And many of the digital writings haven't even been copied into Scrivener yet.
But let's get to the point... XD
I have the original first draft of SPiKE copied into Scrivener for reference or nostalgia idk... It's there anyhow. And looking back on it today (I rarely do because of the amount of cringe induced from how bad I currently feel my old writing style was), and I noticed the word count..
SPIKE chapter 0 to 16 has a word count of 58 911 words.
Which made me wonder.... What's the word count of the other SPIKE stuff I've written in Scrivener these past two years?
417 335 words.
And as mentioned, that is not counting the hand written stuff, random notes, separate documents or anything drawn or sketched. And it is also not including the work done since 2009. This is purely counting new material from the past two (maybe two and a half?) years.
To me, this feels rather uplifting to see. Especially after the failure I felt from not having managed to reach the deadline of November '17..
I'm curious to see what the word count will be, or page count (!) once all these notes, scenes, ideas and documents have been properly converted into actual chapters and the whole thing has been through it's final revision.
Might need some Beta readers when that time comes, but I'll let you guys know in advance in case someone is interested ;)
But yeah.. Sorry if it sounds like bragging, I just felt kind of boosted seeing these statistics :) And I guessed it might be interesting to see for you guys as well, and getting some actual numbers showing the progress. At least the most recent progress that is.
Thanks again for all your support <3
Lots of love to you all <3
