Here is my original drawing of Astarte The Magnificent for this year's Spring Equinox!
Approximately 8 inches by 6 inches. Crayon (Literally Crayola Crayon, it works the best for me for doing the base shapes. I love how buttery and smooth it is. Plus, we ALL have muscle memory from drawing with crayon when we were younger, back before there were any expectations on quality of drawing, just the primal, instinctual need to create images. So drawings, for me, just seem to flow better than using pencil first) with 6B Graphite Pencil (Solid graphite, no wood casing).
I love working with computers. They give me the cleanness of line and sharp colors people love. Making corrections is super easy. But drawing with physical media FEELS like drawing. In fact, that is one thing I would like to ask anyone reading this to do.
The next time you are in the store, stop by the office supply/ school supply section. Pick up a pack of crayons and a drawing pad. NOT printer paper, that's too smooth. Then go home and just draw. Even if it's stick figures. Who cares. You don't have to show anyone, it can just be for you. Don't put any expectations on yourself. Think of it as a meditation. No one says, MEDITATE HARDER! BE MORE IN THE MOMENT! You just are. Let yourself be yourself.
I hope you all have a good and happy Spring! Let the Creativity blossom!
