NS EP 1 UNCUT

Naruto 'sorta' gives nicknames but addressing old people as 'grandma/grandpa' titles/honorifics and those who are near your parents' generation as aunt/uncle and those who are within your generation as older/young brother or sister is somewhat of a universal culture of respect. Its the same in Chinese culture. In America or in the west rather, people who are close enough to your parents might be called your aunt/uncle.

My roommate in college was a freshman in college, I was a senior. He started anime for first time with Naruto, eng dub. I kept nagging him from time to time to switch to sub. I couldn't take Naruto seriously cuz of how terrible the voice acting is and I was laughing my sides off. He asked me if Naruto "was this annoying" in JP vers. I said no, and he didn't say "BELIEVE IT" so many times. He was like "oh good". I got him to promise to watch Shippuuden cuz he marathoned Naruto like crazy. He started without me but I got him to finally sit down with takeout pizza. We both watched Shippuuden ep 1 eng sub together. And in the first 10 seconds, he was already like "WHOA...this is so dark and mature all of a sudden". He saw it dubbed but prob watched 10-20 eps, but he was completely entranced. When he heard Kyuubi's deep voice he said he got chills. That was the day he started to become an ENG SUB ONLY anime fan. I'm so proud of him. We watched the Tanya the Evil movie eng sub in theaters together too

I remember when I watched this for the first time, after the journey through the OG Naruto it made me feel all kinds of ways seeing this episode, after spending so much time with them as children, going through that whole journey, Sasuke being gone for a long time, it was quite something being here :) well that goes for somebody who actually went through the journey properly :D if I watched it this weird way then I would immediately be asking some questions, first off why would they give us that little flashforward at the beginning when we were just done with Naruto and Sasuke fighting, makes no sense storywise, 2nd thing would be why the hell is everybody all of a sudden on board with Naruto, why do they like him? he was literally hated by everybody or ignored, we saw him make a few connections but it was still baby steps, there were still many people even from the main cast he never even interacted with as far as we are concerned...then I would wonder how does everybody know each other all of a sudden, everybody got so close, they werent like this before, how the hell does Sakura know Jiraiya, they havent met before, thats weird, plus what was Sakura's journey and character development, how did she get to this point? so many questions and no answers xD but ye the opening is lit, perfect for the start of Shippuden :) exactly its a once in a lifetime experience...and its destroyed, just like that, what an achievement xD
