Changes are Coming

Well folks, It's almost October, and you know what that means.

I dunno if you all know this Apple has issued a warning that it may remove Patreon from the App Store if it continues to use "unsupported third-party billing methods" instead of using Apple's in-app purchasing system on iOS.

To adapt to the changes,Patreon has said creators must transition to Patreon’s subscription billing system to continue earning via the iOS app. This means that Apple’s 30% commission will be charged on new memberships and upon each renewal. To help mitigate the impact of this new fee, adjustments will be necessary.

To simplify it, Apple want 30% if the money when someone subscribes via the app, and basically bullied Patreon into accepting these terms

This morning I got an email from Patreon telling me all this and telling me; "Look, either way you spin it, Apple is going to start taking money from you"

Now this sucks

It really, really FUCKING SUCKS

And unfortunately it's led me to change some things

Now, I don't make a lot from Patreon, shocking I know, Mr. £1 per membership over here. And Apple are soon going to take 30% of that as a cover charge. Leaving me making significantly less that I already was.

So I'm sorry, but the price increase is a necessary evil for me to actually make any money from this website and my "art".

I totally get why this might have upset you. I'm pissed too. I joined Patreon because I was simply looking for a way to earn a bit from my efforts, but now I've learned that someone else is claiming a portion of my income, and I have no control over the situation.

So I'm sorry, but to prevent me making literal pennies from now on, I'm gonna have to move Memberships from £1 to £2, it should be enough to negate this shitty little tax that Apple are going to apply.

So yeah, for those not in the know

On October 1, Basic memberships are going from £1 to £2

Adjusted, I believe that is roughly $2.60

This is complete bum, I know, blame Apple's shitty new iOS tax. If I don't do this, I'm gonna have to start paying Patreon, so yes, necessary evil I'm afraid.

I could be a total penis and make it higher, but no, £2 should be enough to satiate Apple's bullshit

Announcement #2

The "£8 PRIVATE Koikatsu/HS2 Commission" Tier is being discontinued on October 1

Put simply, no one used it

Like, literally no one

Well there was one person but then they immediately downsized to the regular tier

So just keeping there is pointless

I'm keeping it up for another week just incase but I doubt I'll see any movement on that front.
