Those of you who have listened to the podcast will know what this is, and it's something I've been toying with for two years now. The general idea is this: I play a horror game for about an hour, hour and a half, and see if it can scare me. I talk about what I think makes it scary (or doesn't). I then cut the video down to only the relevant bits and put that out.
It's kind of a Let's Play, but also kind of not, and that's the point. I wanted to play horror games and talk about them WITHOUT the usual theatrics you see on Youtube.
About halfway through producing the second episode, I realized it's tough to edit these things down. The first two episodes clock in at around 40 minutes each, and that's because editing these things down proved to be quite a challenge. They're spooky games, and spooky games are 75% atmosphere. What do you cut, and what do you leave in? It's a balancing act, and one I'm maybe not the best at right now.
So I was editing down the second episode, I decided: what if I just put the uncut footage up for Patreon subscribers? For Undying, it's probably not as much of an issue. I recorded almost 60 minutes on the nose, leaving a whole 20 minutes on the cutting room floor. As we progress through Halloween, that number will rise.
Regardless, here's the first episode. The public (edited) version will go up on October 1st, but since you guys are my backers, you get this a couple days early. Enjoy!
