I think you missed that Langris was affected by the elf in the tournament. Patry even stated the final stone washes away the malice of the forbidden magic that tournament langris was compared to at the time of the tournament (Fana and Vetto) langris was a jerk as a child but it was because he was lonely. Finral even admitted he should've been there for him. I think you misunderstand Langris's character
