Anime only, but then supplementing with Aninews's cut content videos so I'm not getting spoiled ahead of the current episode just being able to appreciate what I've seen even more. I'm also going through the show with a friend, three reactors (you're my third), and then catching the "hood leveling" recaps with CharTheWise, Shimmyreviews, ImKevinn, and RabSoPetty. It's fun seeing how everyone approaches their enjoyment of the same show.

2025-03-22 04:30:15 +0000 UTC6:26 - I recommend checking out AniNews's cut content series because he provides spoiler free context from the novel and web comic filling in what was missing from the anime adaptation up to the point of a given episode. One of those details is that the automatic scanners like the portable and the large black sphere work by using materials from certain ranked gates. The black sphere CAN'T register an S-rank's magic power levels because the material comes from an A-rank source. In order to get a stone that could handle magic power results that high, it would need to come from an S-rank gate (like the one that had a dungeon break on Jeju Island). Likewise clearing an S-rank gate is a prerequisite for a "national" level hunter, however there are only a small number of countries that have cleared S-rank gates.
