Btw if you thought this was bad, wait until you see Scooby Apocalypse. They also sadly took the grimdark setting seriously, removed all mystery -solving, it was the crappiest of these DC reboots of the shows.

While admittedly, the book should have included some sort of recap at the start and this book doesn't do a good job explaining the previous, a lot of the issues I found came about from not seeing the first story first. It reminds some complaints I saw when they decided to make Infinity War the first MCU movie they saw and finding the plot didn't make sense. It would sort of be assumed if you're reading a book that labels itself as a sequel, you would already be familiar with the first one.
