Bumblebee Review - 350th Review!!!

As somebody who's not as huge into Transformers as you are, I enjoyed this movie for what it was: a story about friendship. And it is definitely a step up from Bay's Transformers movies.

See, there, between 17 and 21 minutes in, you basically jump to the very end of the movie. You skipped (quite understandably) most of the movie is, which is pointless padding, as we watch the girl pull pranks and just hang around with Bumblebee while we have the Cons watching for signs of Bee. That takes about half of the movie, at least it felt that long to me, I never rewatched the movie.

BB Shockwave

I really would not complain that Blitzwing was not Starscream, I mean why would you kill off a major character so soon (that's what Bay does, after all... :D) It's odd that they chose this name for him, sure, but really they could have called him Beigescream for all I care. The TF movies have a habit of odd name-reuse, anyway. He was just a random seeker quickly killed.

BB Shockwave

Bumblebee is Transformers done right. Merry Christmas!

Actually, what fixed Bumblebee was him falling into that huge vat of artificial energon. Besides, Ratchet pointed out how doing a replacement part wasn't so simple during the whole arc where Bumblebee's T-Cog was stolen.

Verdant Range

Well, yeah, but Arcee is a fighter. Ratchet though is a doctor, and he should have been able to fix Bee (and actually, eventually does by the end of the show).

I am sort of ambivalent on the Bumblebee movie. The opening 5 minutes on Cybertron? Awesome, and clearly thrown in for the fans, by people who actually checked out some of the cartoon and comics and games. We are even getting some awesome toys of these characters (despite most of them not having been designed to transform). However, afterwards? The movie is a slog, with again too much focus on humans, none of them being any interesting, and while we finally have some Decepticons who are actually good at deception, they also have little character. And Bee himself is really a cypher - he goes from a veteran warrior who has fought this war for ages to a scared puppy because they are basically redoing E.T. here. I also felt the director was not a great choice, as he clearly isn't that well versed with directing live action stuff. The writing was the part with the most issues, though. Which is not surprising if you check the writer's prior credits. Also, much like Stranger Things or Ready Player One or Captain Marvel, this is one of those 80ies flicks that tries to hit us over the head with references nonstop.

BB Shockwave

Thanks for this Christmas surprise! And Merry Christmas to you both!

BB Shockwave

Yay Bumblebee Christmas!

DreamScream

Yes, it was good for me too.

Jim Stigall

Bumblebee is fantastic, and I hope Rise of the Beasts is just as good if not better

Congratulations Gracie! Bobsheaux featured your Transfurmers Christmas video in the credits! I'm glad you got your Christmas miracle this year!

I think part of the reason for the Cullen stuff is the original actor was meant to be a temp track and the ad accidentally used the temp track instead of the final audio. This may be somewhat supported by the fact the temp voice from Optimus Prime is also in the movie as the voices of Soundwave and Shockwave. Also, the thing about Bee's voice box reminds me of a bit from Transformers Prime. Jack: "You're a motorcycle, Arcee. Shouldn't you know how to build a motorcycle engine?" Arcee: "You're a human, Jack. Can you build me a small intestine?"

Verdant Range

I’m so glad you finally got a Transformers movie that made you very happy. Bumblebee is a Christmas Miracle!

I love Bumblebee's design in this movie. Hell all Cybertronians look amazing in this. It's a great balance of their old cartoon designs and simplicitiy and how machines look IRL. And I know this is a point a lot of people argue with, but I love that Optimus Prime has the face plate instead of an actual mouth.

Happy Decemberween Bobsheaux!
