The tufts? As in the root growths coming out of his hat? I start of with the lil adhesive wargaming tufts and hack them up a bit then glue them on. Then I use a few bits of wire wool and some bits of coconut fibre from hanging basket liners. I select some nice wiggly bits and super glue them in. Plus a bit of stirland battle mire splotches on it.
