Boruto and Sarada were definitely not 12 years old at the beginning. Boruto and Sarada were at max 11 since Boruto's 12th birthday is an event later in the anime. Boruto and Sarada were anywhere from 7-10 when the Boruto anime started. They were 11 at this point though.
