"Directly away" is intended as a mechanic analogous to the "directly opposite" of the optional flanking rules. So, if the PC approaches from the south, the deer can move any direction other than North.

2023-03-14 06:26:39 +0000 UTCSo could you explain elusive sidle? From my read it is impossible for the deer to move more than 5 feet away from the target. I read moving/ending any distance away is “directly away” from a grid/hex perspective and therefore not possible which would mean it can only be used to circle around the target while staying the same distance away. Is that how it is intended to work?
