Vacation Update

Hey all ^^

My vacation did not go as planned. First the flight cancellation, which made me loose a couple of days to the 13 hours travel time to a place normally taking two to two and a half hour and the heatwave from hell...

I had a lot of fun meeting friends and hanging with them, but it was a real struggle lol

The airbnb was... an experience on itself...
The front door to the apartment complex was broken, no lock, not even a working handle, you just push it open. Which is kinda scary as the area do have a bit of a crime problem and we're smack in the middle of several bars and nightclubs, like drunk people are hanging right at that broken door.

The door to our apartment worked, it was locked with a keypad, although it would sometimes not accept the code which as weird, and the handle sometimes had to be pushed up instead of down...
Inside was a mess, the bathroom was clearly not been cleaned for a long time, the paint was flaking and the shower was out of a horror movie. The toilet was loose from the floor, you could tilt it if sitting on it. The bedroom and living room was spacious though so that was nice, the best part was location and the internet was pretty decent.

The airbnb was advertised as for 4-5 people. but the "double" bed was not made for two people and the three pull-out couches was so small our tiniest friend who's barely 5 feet tall could not lie down comfortable on either of them, so she had gotten us a air mattress as she had stayed a couple of days alone on the airbnb so we wouldn't loose the place.

Not that the size of the pull-out couches matters too much as every piece of padding was flat and you sat right in the wooden frame.

The air mattress was bad, I'm still hurting after sleeping on it, my drawing arm is really sore from sleeping on it as a buffer for the thinnest pillows in the universe.
I also had to use a cooling mat to sleep as it was really hot, although to the airbnb's credit it wasn't as bad a temperature inside as we feared it would be. There where large windows that was covered by vertical blinds that really filthy and broken, worked for the most part, but the window leading to the neighbor apartment had huge gaps from missing blinds pieces, so we where a bit worried about pervs peeking lol 

lack of sleep was an issue, though, not just the heat, but every sound made outside was audible, and there was a karaoke bar right next to us, as well as a upstairs neighbor we "fondly" dubbed Thor as whenever he moved about it sounded like he was moving every bit of furniture around and running for an marathon, and boy was he a active dude...

we also found mold on the skillet when trying to make some dinner, absolutely no thank you eeeew
at night we as a security measure put the garbage bin up to the door, so just in case someone broke in we'd hear it, fun stuffs
there where also plenty of bugs, found a slug in the bathroom

The heat made things really bad in general, a lot of the things we and I had planned was canceled. There was a comedy show that was canceled which we found out on the day when we met up, the video game bar I had planned doing a photo shoot was not open and honestly I was too exhausted to do any pictures, I ended up doing some toy photos, I also looked like a wreck lol it was too hot to put on make-up or do anything with my hair. We tried to do some nightclub activities, but I mostly had one cider and sat close to the AC sweating my tits off.

we did meet some fun people who was rowdy enough that we almost got kicked out lol and we had a walk around Gay Village meeting drag queens and cute dogs who could be walked at night as it was too warm to walk them at daytime.

There was also transportation problems, as the heatwave would warp the tracks for trains and trams, and we witnessed 2 separate brawls on the tram in one day, it was super crazy. first fight had a guy do a leg choke while holding himself up my the hand rails, luckily that was on a different tram then we where taking.

The second fight was on our tram and caused a lot of delays as a middle-aged woman rudely told a 15 year old girl to shut up, I think there also was some touching, a shouting match started and a middle-aged man intervened making it worse, resulting in the teenager to hit the woman so she fell and kicked her in the face, and the man grabbed the teen and smashed repeatedly her into the box holding emergency gear. Other people got involved and made it into a bigger brawl. in the end everyone involved got out of the tram car and the tram started to drive off. But we had to wait on the tracks several times as the tracks was unsafe to travel.

But some fun things!
I had a doll meet with more friends, as we're into BJDs, I only have a couple as they aren't my cup of tea, but it was fun hanging with them. Although I had to go and rest for a bit and come back later as I was feeling a little ill. Not Covid luckily, we had test before attending.

I also got to try Taco Bell for the first time... I was not impressed lol It was super bland with no seasoning at all.

Finally had KFC again hehe, it's a staple when visiting the UK as we don't have that in Norway, we might have too strict animal welfare and food quality laws plus it wouldn't be any-near as cheap as it is in the UK. 

and we had Nando's, it's really good chicken.

and we had a lot of fun shopping at the malls available, we went to the big mall on the hottest day to combat the heatwave with the AC in the mall. It was around 39-40 degrees Celsius and the wind was like a hair dryer.

we also visited some nerdy shops and I bough some RPG stuff for Pathfinder 2 and Starfinder as we're starting a Starfinder game soon as the PF2 game is on a break. We have had a session 0 where we made characters and I'm a Akatonian Human with the Soldier class and Ace-Pilot background. She uses brass knuckles and a small pistol for fighting and she got a gambling addiction. The game is going to be set in a reality TV game show where we race against other spaceships and try to win the race.

The flight home was also delayed and we had to spend hours on the air port at night with most food places closed. Even the pilots was delayed as they where stuck on another plane that was also late.

being home I've spent most of the time recovering lol it was hot in the UK, and the heatwave come to Norway when I came home. I also had to cut my vacation short as my workplace have had been shortstaffed really bad.

I'm still so very tired lol So I haven't been very productive, but I'm slowly getting back into things^^
