Hardspace: Shipbreaker VR mod

I was away from my usual setup for about a month, which made it difficult to work on Stanley Parable (or anything else with motion controls) for a bit. So I took the chance to make a quick mod for Shipbreaker.

This is a simple mod that allows you to toggle the camera between VR and non-VR mode by pressing F3. There are no motion controls, and most of the UI will be invisible or broken.

Let me know if you'd like to see this game as a full VR mod, with added motion controls, fully working UI in VR, etc. If there's enough interest, I might try to improve this one after Stanley VR.

Good to know! Next update I'll use Rai Manager, which I also use for my newer mods, to make it auto detect the install folder.

Works great! With this being on gamepass, it did take me a minute to find the install files, but you can navigate to them by "manage" in the xbox app.

This could be a forever game for me with VR. It's excellent as is, a real unexpected gem frankly. In VR even with just regular controller and no motion controls, I feel like it could be a masterpiece. Please continue development!

Played on a i7-8700, 16GB RAM, GTX 1070Ti with a Valve Index (90Hz refresh, Motion Smoothing On). Observations are as follows: - Had some issues getting it to work at first. Specifically, F3 could get me into VR and out once, but not afterwards (like it was a one-time deal). Later on, I disovered I had to be careful between selecting the flatscreen display and the VR display, so maybe it wasn't an issue, and just me. - I had a BepInEx screen pop up with a lot of DOS-type text that looked like something was going on, but fortunately nothing bad happened as a result. - Framerate on a 1070Ti wasn't all that great. Standing still and looking around was buttery smooth, but moving with the joysticks had noticeable jitter; it was certainly playable though. I did not mess with any in-game settings; played with default settings. - This certainly had some Detached/Horus Station/Lone Echo vibes to it. The sense of scale was well worth the effort to play (although the game would only let you travel so far), and was very immersive for an 'alpha-type' release. Moving in precise, controlled movements was helpful in controlling any nasuea, but boy was it fun seeing if I could get dizzy. The default gamepad configuration was pretty well put together for myself, but I would not mind having a motion controller alternative, even if it just a gamepad emulator. Probably the most annoying thing was the consistant braking to get the grapple/laser cutter lined up with the debris. Being able to aim with a motion controller would have been most cool. The next most annoying thing was the near-constant switching between the flat-screen and VR screen to read the controller functions on an Xbox controller, but easy to deal with. - Aiming with the Cuttng Laser (specifically adjusting the angle of the laser) was weird in that the laser shot to the right by 90 degrees, and not out in fornt of me. - Upon completing the 'training' going inside the crew quarters was messed up. Look up was looking down, and turning left made me turn right, and I moved very fast if I wasn't careful. Would I like to see development continue on this one? Yes, please.

Looks good... I enjoyed the lone echo games but got a bit bored of the easy tasks but story carried it... don't know if the tasks are more challenging in this or story as engaging... but if you can move around with touch in zero G then I'm still excited - good choice.

The game pass version definitely works with this mod, I tested it. But you need the "insider hub" version of the Xbox app to allow for modding. I have some instructions for the Firewatch mod which you can probably follow for this one too: https://github.com/Raicuparta/two-forks-vr/#xbox-app--game-pass-version

OK That was Amazing, did the tutorial and started the first shift. I played with PS5 Controller and everything worked fantastic apart from the cutting laser which I guess you know about. Awesome job so far!

I would love this! Thank you so much for your work!

Oh my! Shipbreaker is my number one “how is this not in VR?” title. If you’ll excuse me, I’m off to buy a zero-g simulation suspension system, aka. “hammock”.

Tried to set up on gamepass version and can’t get running. Looking forward to though.

Would love this game in VR!

Would love to see a FULL VR Mod for this, it was fun pancake mode.

I explained in the video and in the text of this post, there's no motion controls. This version isn't good enough to play through the whole game yet, just for looking around a bit and getting a feel of the environment.

i subscribed for a year just because your choice in Games is so perfect!

Martin Steiner

People have mentioned it to them, again excuses are they don't have time.

This game is crying out for a VR mod, seems daft that the developers didn’t even consider it.
