"Hi Team!

I just wanted to remind everyone of the way Patreon bills, especially if you're brand new in these parts.

Patreon BILLS UP FRONT

That means you'll be charged for whatever tier you've chosen on the day you subscribe. You have instant access to the back catalog of whatever creator you've chosen to support. In my case, that's more than six months worth of work. In the case of other creators, it's maybe years worth of backlog to peruse! Take your time, enjoy, you have access to this backwork for as long as you're a patron.

Patreon BILLS ON THE FIRST OF THE MONTH

This is your bill for the new month. You will be billed on the 1st of the new month regardless of when you subscribed...that means if you signed up on Feb. 27th, you're going to be charged again on March 1st. This is your bill for the new month's worth of content.

I understand that it might feel like you're being double charged if you subscribe towards the end of a calendar month. You're not, not really, but I don't know that Patreon's verbiage makes it abundantly clear that what you're being charged up front for is that instant access to back catalogs, versus a new signup only having access to new work.

yes, Patreon is in the process of reviewing the billing system, and there is talk about moving to a new model of anniversary billing, in which patrons will be charged monthly on the day they subscribed, versus the 1st. There is *much* uncertainty around this yet, and unfortunately, I don't have much to share in the way of details. (...)"
