MAP OF THE SOUL : PERSONA 'Persona' Comeback Trailer REACTION

When RM raps, I sit and I LISTEN.

This man never ceases to amaze me with his talent, rap style and impressive lyrics. I don't understand when he BREATHES LOL, it's just bar after bar after BAR and everything he is saying is so powerful, I'm obsessed. He also does all of that while looking SO DAMN FINE EEEEEP!!!

This MV definitely lived up to the hype especially after watching the 2019 MMA version of this song. Both hit so hard!!

Speaking of MMA - I feel like it's been a minute since we've watched any award show performance! Let me know if there are any I MUST watch!

You're right about lyric videos claiming he's the main vocal part. But it has been mentioned a few times way back just after debut. Jin only did adlibs for Trouble. Also if you strip the song, you can see his bar and listen to just his adlibs. But it's true, he didn't sing the whole song or the vocal parts, that was just Namjoon. And it's pretty easy to tell their voices apart, well unless the person listening is new to their vocals and hasn't heard them enough. But yes, I detest lyric videos because most of them get things wrong. Between using Google translate and not highlighting the right member or only highlighting one when 2-3 of the members are harmonizing. Thank you for your comment💜

Ok Peachy I know it's long but I took the time to organize this, here's the BTS eras timeline in order so you don't get that confused. 💜 By the way, I don't mention here the singles releases, just the albums with the title tracks! Take in mind I included the Japanese albums (they are not always related to other albums, they are just part of that era's time line, and some are related but idk why people ignore that fact and say things like "trilogy" lol... maybe because are basically the Japanese versions of the Korean songs with a few new songs idk.) Also, I included the 'BTS' World OST' album, that one was for a game released during that time but it's not related to any of the other albums: * School Trilogy Era (2013-2014): - 2 COOL 4 SKOOL .Title Track: No more Dream (2013) - O!RUL8,2?. Title Track: N.O (2013) - Dark & Wild. Title Track: Danger (2014) - Wake Up (Japanese Album, 2014). Title Track: Wake Up * Youth /HYYH Trilogy Era (2015-2016) (HYYH stands for Hwa Yang Yeon Hwa "화양연화" or “The Most Beautiful Moment In Life” ): - The Most Beautiful Moment in Life, Pt. 1. Title Track: I Need U (2015) - The Most Beautiful Moment in Life, Pt. 2. Title Track: Run (2015) - The Most Beautiful Moment in Life: Young Forever. Title Track: Fire (2016) - BTS’ ’YOUTH’ Album (Japanese album, 2016). Title Track: For You * Wings Era (2016-2017): - Wings (2016). Title Track: Blood, Sweat and & Tears - You Never Walk Alone (2017). Title Track: Spring Day * Love Yourself Era (2017-2019): - LOVE YOURSELF 承 'Her' (2017). Title Track: DNA - FACE YOURSELF (Japanese album, 2018). Title Track: Don't Leave Me - LOVE YOURSELF 轉 'Tear' (2018). Title Track: Fake Love - LOVE YOURSELF 結 'Answer’ (2018). Title Track: IDOL * Map of the Soul Era (2019-2020): - MAP OF THE SOUL: PERSONA (2019). Title Track: Boy With Luv - BTS World: Original Soundtrack (2019). Title Track: Heartbeat - MAP OF THE SOUL: 7 (2020). Title Track: ON - MAP OF THE SOUL: 7 ~The Journey (2020). Title Track: Stay Gold * BE Era (2020): (2020. Dynamite was an unplanned Single but they promoted it as an album so it could be considered a title track in some way. It was then included in the BE album) - BE (2020). Title Track: Life Goes On * Butter & Permission to Dance Era (2021): - BTS, The Best (Japanese album, 2021). Title Track: Film Out ‎- Butter / Permission to Dance (2021) (Butter was released as a single 2 months before and then together with PTD in this album. So, both are basically title tracks, they were promoted just like Dynamite) * Proof Era (2022): - PROOF (BTS' 1st Anthology Album, 2022). Title Track: Yet To Come

Shadow is one of my favorite songs 😭 Yoongi’s solo songs where he sings are beautiful. Shadow and Seesaw!! ❤️

Kat

a little info tho since it's a common misconception because of lyric vids adding seokjin, but there's actually no proof that he's part of the cover. i thought he was part of it too at first but when i focused on the vocals more, i think it was all joon's vocals in the song

I get so confused when you get confused with the timelines 😂 maybe this list helps, the website BTS Wiki you can use for everything https://bts.fandom.com/wiki/Videography

Namjoon is such an artist it’s so inspiring! His lyrics always hit so powerfully!!!

You could watch the DKDKTV explained of this, as there are a lot of hidden things within this. I did want to explain one part in particular- Namjoon raps "The three syllables of my name and the word 'but' that should come before any of those" This is a call back to Kpoppies who, when their favorite idol would get in trouble or say something not okay... those Kpoppies would say "But Kim Namjoon." This was the rebuttal- Namjoon was dragged for many things, some things he certainly was at fault for- Like choosing to say Hobi was so dark when they first met that they couldn't see him. Sure, he didn't really mean anything harmful by it, but it can be seen as a dig at those who are dark skinned. Namjoon apologized of course and made sure to promise to do better. He was dragged for his cover of Pharrell's Expensive Girl. It was seen as too sexual and not something an Idol should be covering. Honestly though... Namjoon's version was a lot more tame. At the same time he got dragged from pre-debut in some songs for saying the N word- of course years later it would come to light that he wasn't the one saying it in his pre-debut songs which most had at least one other rapper on them. Back then, it was mostly the BTS former trainee Iron who would let the N word slip. But because Namjoon was on the track too... it was of course his fault according to many. Then we get to Danger and War of Hormone, the two songs that made this man question if he should even continue down this path. Of course when these songs were released no one had brought up issue of it, it wasn't till months later that suddenly it was a problem. Again, Namjoon learned from these and never made these mistakes again. But... Kpoppies will still use the "But Kim Namjoon" excuse. Another song that got RM in trouble was trouble... again, they said it was way too sexual for an idol. However, Jin provided adlibs for trouble and I think you should react to it because... well, I love seeing people freak out over this and I think it would be peak hilariousness to see you react to it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=afPjNatLZac All I can say is... get wrecked - in a fun, happy, nice way. Yeah.💜

Can't wait for you to react to Yoongi's Shadow and J-hope's Boy Meets Evil...so so so good! All part of the storyline.

Luna75

I was gonna remind you that the music for Persona should sound familiar but you haven't listened to Skool Luv Affair yet 🤣🤣🤣 looking forward to you continuing to fill in the blanks of your journey!

MOTS:7 is my favorite BTS album. Suga's solo "Interlude: Shadow" is so good from this album and really introspective

Persona is an iconic song, I could write essays about the lyrics. I’m glad you loved it! (Fun fact: he repeats “Where’s your soul? Where’s your dream?” 3 years later in his song Wildflower.) Persona and the entire map of the soul era are based on Carl Jung’s theory that every person has a persona (a face/mask they show the public), a shadow (parts of themselves they are ashamed or scared of and keep hidden) and an ego (the parts they consider to be their “identity”/sense of self). That’s why this song asks all these questions: what kind of impact should i leave on the public? Who is Rm? Who is Namjoon? Why am I here? Is the version of him dressed in a suit or a hoodie more “him”? Is it a huge fake CG version or a guy in a classroom with graffiti? And he comes to the conclusion that he “wants to give you all the voices till he dies, all the shoulders when you cry” - that’s the best thing he can do with his time in this world and the fame he has.
