Many people recommended that I watch this explanation video and it was super interesting and thorough!! I loved learning about the Korean card game as well as childhood games and different ways the members used the word "Ddaeng"!! I had a few skeptical moments but all in all, the beautiful thing about music is that it's always up for interpretation and I love hearing everyone's views on a dope song!!
I'm also SUPER glad that Namjoon got the hype he deserved for his lyricism and skills here! They all ATE

The cash register thing can’t be a reach because in the lyrics he literally said “Cashier collecting bills “DDAENG!”

2025-04-01 03:04:00 +0000 UTCAbout the School bell and the Cashier opening is definitely not a stretch bc the lyrics name those things before ddaeng, it's not like if he's randomly talking about a cashier and a school bell lol and also a lot of things in Korean have a distinct sound or a way to describe things way differently than in other parts of the world. Of course I would trust BTS 100% in the meaning of their lyrics than other explanation from someone else but I would say this video is pretty accurate since they took into consideration the entire lyrics and korean context! many k-armys interpreted the song in the same way too
