Here he is, the iconic Mario, ready to become a star in your collection!
This model was a great project, and I learned new techniques to cut the model while keeping a solid appearance, avoiding the need to split parts in half. At 100% scale, Mario stands 6 inches (153 mm) tall. Scaling up should pose no issues, but if you scale down, the eyes might become tight and require some cleanup.
Included Files:
- Bambu 3MF file
- Bambu 3MF file with stronger supports for the ears (check extra plate)
- Individual STL files
- Print settings
Colors Used:
- Elegoo: Matte White, Matte Black, Red, Yellow, Dark Blue, Matte Beige (face)
- Overture PLA Pro: Chocolate
- Sunlu: Burlywood
Printing Tips:
There have been some reports of users having issues with the ears not sticking to the supports well. So I have included another 3MF, with two plates of stronger supports.
- Use a glue stick to secure prints to the bed for better adhesion.
- Supports are needed for the pants, hands, and face (just for the ears).
- Use rafts for the arms, chest, and hat.
- Apply variable layer height for the hat and face to reduce layer lines at the top.
Assembly Steps:
1. Glue the soles to the boots, then insert pegs into the boots and pants.
2. Glue on the yellow buttons.
3. Attach the hands and pins to the arms.
4. Connect the arms and chest to the body, pressing the chest all the way down.
5. Glue the head pin (solid part) into the body with the clip facing up for the head.
6. Assemble the eyes, ensuring you differentiate between the left and right pieces.
7. Attach the mustache and eyebrows to the face.
8. Glue on the side hair pieces.
9. Attach the back hair by applying glue generously where it meets the side hair pieces and also to the back of the head near the bottom.
10. Insert the letter "M" into the white logo part of the hat and glue it in place.
11. The hat may fit loosely; glue around the front of the forehead, the back of the hair, and the side hair pieces to secure it.
I hope you enjoy adding Mario to collection! Happy printing
