August Development Update

So, hey, interesting month, huh?

To avoid re-explaining everything with the Itch situation, I'd suggest going back to read the previous posts if you haven't. We're back to being indexed on Itch (yay!) but we're no longer able to collect donations on that platform (boo!) and the fate of other VNs affected more deeply- and the broader power being wielded by payment processors to stifle queer art- are still ongoing (boo!) so I encourage everyone to keep up with calling in. And, of course, as a fallback we'll keep maintaining the Subscribestar in parallel in case Patreon tries anything cute.

Now, about that visual novel.

While the early release of chapter 3 is a bit of an unexpected blip in the schedule, we're generally hoping to maintain the rhythm of 2-3 months between launches. So, looking from where chapter 3 launched, we're hoping for chapter 4 beta to hit in September-October or so. Art briefs are out and being worked on, and I've already gotten some sketches back.

I confess, I may be a little bit cagey about which ones to show in the Disc previews this time because this chapter has some art that is pretty out there without proper context, but rest assured there will still be some published. We're also due another behind the scenes article before chapter 4, the next one up will be one about Amir's character design.

That's about what we've got this time! Honestly, I've been thinking about making these every other month instead of every month since the takeaway is usually 'yep, development's proceeding and we're still doing the two-three months per build thing.' We will have a custom mouse cursor in next build, so that's neat. There's some possibility of a longer pause after chapter 5 due to how the general workflow around writing and editing has been going, but we're doing what we can to keep things running smoothly.
