After Dark With Amber Marie

There are a lot of instances of 'it's been awhile' for this shoot with Amber. From studio lights and gels to shooting and editing video. I must say though, I am so damn glad it happened.

This shoot was almost impromptu. Amber let me know the day before that she had a concept that she wanted to work on and asked to use my space. We got together later that day and brainstormed over dinner. Amber used to dance at Jumbo's Clown Room here in Los Angeles and they started doing digital Zoom calls with themes where the ladies would dance and have fun. This time around the theme was 'Playboy' and her concept was she wanted me to shoot her dances as they were happening to really tie in the theme. I was immediately on board and started running through my mind everything we would need. The next morning I messaged a few of my friends and got ahold of some studio lights, soft boxes and gels. Amber had mentioned while we were bringing this concept to a full reality over dinner that it did not need to be a big production. I told her that if we were going to do this, we were going to do it right and do it epic.

Amber arrived at my studio around six o'clock and her dances started at eight. As she got herself ready, I prepped the studio for a night of fun and photo. The seamless came down, the lights went up and we sorted out what gels we wanted to use for her two looks that she had planned. The first look was more pastel and soft to compliment the lingerie set she had picked out and the second look, this one, we chose a deep blue and deep red to compliment the amazing red and black animal print piece she had. The studio was set, Amber was ready and it was literal show time. The first song and dance went flawlessly, but I will save that story for the release of those images.

We had a decent sized break in between her next song, so I ordered some Birdies, Amber changed into her next look and I took Kylea for a walk to go get our food. Birdies ended up taking longer than expected and I actually missed he second dance, so we were not able to shoot photos during it. However, after her spotlight ended, we focused on us and shooting some killer images. With every shutter click I became more and more elated with how this was coming together. Everything was perfect. After we wrapped up the images, we then switched to video and that amazing piece will be coming a little later today to the $10+ tiers!

While I was working through these images the colors were having a battle with my eyes. In fact, even while we were shooting this look, I remember that my eyes were struggling because of the colors. The editing process was no different. I would have to take a several minute break in between each image in order for my eyes to adjust and not scream at me constantly. I have friends that constantly shoot this type of light and even live in it. I have asked them since shooting this look how they do it, which I still do not understand. However, this light makes for some beautiful images with an amazing feeling attached. Enjoy!
