They're so cute and I'm glad they're happy. :>

Drew "Ununnilium" Perron

Surprised the handholding isn't pixelated out :)

David Howe

Honestly, part of the issue for me is simply that I ink in Illustrator. That many lines in a confined space is difficult to keep smooth and looking well. My settings can be just fine for everything else, but then I have to draw a finger, and it's just "auuugh"

I've actually known quite a few artists who had no problem with Hans, so keep looking, I'm sure you'll find some you can get along with. ;) On a more serious note, hands are difficult to draw, but most artists I know are better at hands than they think they are. They judge themselves on their worst hands, not on their typical hands. I feel like the biggest problem with hands is that even in frames with very little action, hands are frequently doing something. You can practice faces n times and get really good at drawing faces. You can practice drawing a particular pose of a hand n times and get really good at that, but that experience won't help you much for drawing a slightly different pose. It's not like a face where it's just the angle and expression that changes. The face has one pair of joints and everything else is just muscles moving skin a little. The hand has what seems like about 21 joints. Some of those joints can move independently, but for most people at least, others move dependently, and figuring out exactly how that's supposed to look can be rough. Especially if you're one of the artists whose hands work differently. (And there definitely are people who are different in that fashion.)

*sigh* I know it! 30 years ago I tried drawing hands - in high school. I made a tongue-in-cheek face after I said it, but noooo you couldn't understand it. You took it for granted that I couldn't fathom it. I know it well enough! Some people never get it even if you hold it up to their face. And this is why I never post here. Some people don't know when they are being obnoxious.

Have you ever, like, LOOKED at your hands, man? No, but seriously, look at your hands. Every single part is curved. Often, like with fingers, they're curved on 2 separate axes. And no one practices hands the way they do something like faces, but people have the same "Wait, that's not right" reaction to a bad hand as a bad face. Just, never draw hands.

Viktor

So many reaction images I want to add for this. The succubus one about degenerates who like hand holding and the anime one where they censor the hand holding.

Michel Nichols

Probably because fingers are so thin. (Hair is thinner, but you can draw it as a single mass.)

Stephen Gilberg

So, would they be transformed because of the morality system in place like Susan was or?

G A S P ! ! !

ZekeStaright

Handholding!?!?! How lewd! Think of the children!

MightyElosan

It's a strange thing; nearly all artists I know have a problem with hands. I wonder why? :P

Hans Peter Bak

I'm looking forward to Susan finally catching up with them and going "there you are! what have you been doing this whole time?!" and then Rhoda responds "I have a girlfriend now! we kissed! ....they weren't exactly clear on this at the monastery, but does that mean I'm pregnant?"

Connie Edogawa

Like many farms and skeletons, the hand hold is conveniently just quite off frame. Well played!

Raphaël

Awwww!

coredumperror

That is an excellent illustration of hand holding, and an excellent fitting of it into the plot. Well done!
