I'm uncertain what magic is at play here, but Sarah seems okay with it.
I had originally intended for one rock button to be missing from the snow person's torso in the last panel in order to suggest some link to Sarah's state of dress. I wasn't sure what all I was really implying with that, however (would the absence of the rock be because of Sarah opening her jacket, or the reason for it opening?), and it would have been a distracting, clearly deliberate detail, so I decided to just leave three rocks.
If you want to make assumptions about what their removal would mean, go right ahead.
And now Dan goes on a bit about behind the scenes nonsense
This particular "Dan's choice" milestone was sketched late last year, and was intended to break in a new coloring system that ultimately didn't work well. In its failure, however, I learned enough about choosing colors using Hue, Saturation and Brightness values alone that I felt like I didn't need anything more elaborate than just typing in numbers.
Basically, I failed in a way that got much better results than if I had succeeded.
But that's not the only reason it got pushed back. Much to my own surprise, I wound up completely changing how I went about inking at that time, and I just kept on making more and more changes, all the while assuring myself that, once I finally settled on something, I would finally go back and finish this.
I fully expect I'll even further revise my methods, but I believe myself basically done on that front, and decided to finally finish this.
Of course, now I feel bad about not doing something with bunnies on Easter, so one might be able to guess what will be in the next "Dan's choice" milestone, but that will have to wait until after I've finished another voted on milestone.
I'm going to try to stick to one of these a week for a bit, making it as routine as I can. I'm not going to set a exact day of the week for the moment, opting to "post when done" for a while. If I reach that coveted point of having two done in the same week, however, it will gradually become something to expect on a particular day of the week.
