Although few people worship them today, a sense of magic still lingers around them. That’s why they attract various forest creatures – such as the błędnice. These beings hide in hollowed-out trunks of giant trees, lined with moss and ferns, where they regenerate and gather strength for their nightly journeys. After dusk, they take the form of beautiful maidens, wounded animals, lost children, or simply clouds of light. All of it serves one purpose – to lure travelers into the wild parts of the forest, from which it is hard to return.
