Update post on projects and upcoming art

"WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN PSYK. WHERE'S THE ART?!" - you probably. Sorry >_<

Hello everyone! It's been a bit since I've done one of these. I'll try to make this short and sweet, but in a nutshell I've been exploring and learning instead of going in a loop hole of content and desperation. I want to learn and expand my horizons in hopes to give you more than just art, but experiences.

Project: New arrival - a choose your own path comic book

If you're not familiar with these, there are books called "Choose your own adventure" where they act more like a DnD game in a book for one player, having the book give you options through the story, allowing you to choose your path. What I didn't know is that there are comic books as well! I found out that books such as Meanwhile, Leviathan or 2120 give this visual experience and exploration that I've never seen before while you choose your own path. These books also have a resemblance to (something I didn't know but found out about) hypercard games on the web. Lets talk details then :)

The Idea

Simple concept. It's a story about a ticket bot robot girl in a sci-fi PMC point of interest, and she has to do some quests to help out the members at the base. Whatever those quests are, they lead to endings of their own! And because it's a branching path, there are several endings and puzzles!

The production

I had set some base rules. Make it short but sweet. Make it somewhat replayable, 4 endings, and keep it simple. Here's the first draft:

1st try

This was very basic. The major issue I had with this was that it was extremely linear. I didn't like it so I went back to make a new approach.

2nd try

This was a bit more interesting, I didn't get too much in depth but the idea was to implement a day section with choices. If you choose one option, then that day is spent on said option, giving you other paths on day 2. It was more interesting as it allowed the player to replay it a bit more! But it wasn't good enough and went against the idea of making it "simple" If I added 3 options at the start, that would lead to 3 different possible "day 2" branches, which would then branch even more. It would've been a headache. "I can do better!" I said. And so I did.

3rd try

The actual final layout. This to me is what is the best approach. It will have a day and night cycle, it will have a decent exploration and looping back and forward, with endings and puzzles to do as well. It took me a bit to get here but I think it was worth the trouble. It is actually well organized (at least in my head) and I can visualize everything in it, specially on how it works! As I'm writing this, the polish pass is already being done, which means I will most likely be doing a sketch test for some of my friends (and maybe some of you!) to try! :D

Blender and 3D models

My hatred of blender has slowly shifted to love, more and more I get an understanding of how to use it for my advantage to make content that is extremely elaborate such as backgrounds or for concept art. As I've shown before, I've been able to make one of the current OCs of mine (Ticket bot) into a 3d model! Now my plan in the future is to also get into making some of my other characters in 3d!

So eventually, Kix and Capsule will be in glorious 3D as well. (I have a lot of ideas and plans for Kix)

Actual art

I have been drawing and I do have some content available to upload, which will be available on the next artdrop as per usual. The truth though is I've been busy with commission work. And commission work takes priority and sometimes leans to a back and forward between clients, which makes uploading anything slow down.

I hope to have something more to upload by the 5th for twitter and you lot as well.

Also, an apology.

Depression sucks, and I suffer with it for far too long. It creeps on me every so often and mix that with medical check ups anxiety, and you get me being away from drawing for a few months. For a few months I actually felt just lost and alone. I'm used to being alone but sometimes it gets to you, and the worse of the worse can show up. It sucks and there's no cure to it other than some medication. This is what I went through once more during the few months of this year and thus I didn't do too much art.

But hey, I'm back now, doing some more stuff other than just art, and I hope you lot support me in this path. Thank you for being patient on my slow ass. See you lot in a few days with the art drop!
