The Martian is what lead me straight to your channel Stef and I’m grateful for it.

EDIT: Not sure why this great (but older) reaction sent an email notification in December of 2024...

I think not knowing ahead of time is best. And I hope you watched the end credits … nothing cray in them but a little bit of closure for each character seeing them react to the next manned mission to Mars being launched.

I also think that going into a movie without having read a plot synopsis or having seen trailers is preferable. I really enjoyed her reaction to The Martian. The movie, in my opinion, did a very good job with a variety of issues without being overly graphic. For example, field surgery on yourself is not much fun but if it has to be done then no way to avoid. Being profoundly alone in an extreme environment is hard, even for a few weeks. The movie did a great job focusing on the impact by showing and not telling which io me is preferable.

I definitely think not looking up stuff or watching trailers is better. Perhaps just knowing the genre is good

PS. Your favorite scene with Mark launching into Mars orbit.. the director surprised Matt Damon and fed the others’ voices into his helmet, as shown. It wasn’t originally planned. So his reaction is more raw and authentic.

Top 10 movie for me. So excited it won the poll. If you’re already committing to watching it, then I would say don’t watch the trailers. The less you know, the more fun it is to see the surprise through your reactions

What an excellent movie! Arrival is another really good one
