December Cold Full Moon Reflection Spell

Good morning moon babes!

The December full moon peaks this evening on December 7th at 11:09 pm Eastern Time /  8:09 pm Pacific Time. This full moon is often known by a few different names: the cold moon, moon before yule, and long night moon. The cold moon refers to a time of year when the weather is extremely cold. The conditions in most of the country are usually extremely frigid this time of year. Early European pagans call this moon “Moon before Yule”in honor of the yuletide season, and the fact that this is the last full moon before yule. Lastly, this moon can also be referred to as the long night moon due to how close it falls to the longest night of the year on winter solstice. Ultimately this is a time when the nights are the coldest and longest as we approach the winter solstice. It's a perfect time to turn inward and reflect on the last year.

This moon takes place while the sign of Gemini while the sun in Sagittarius. Geminis are known for their duality. Being ruled by mars Geminis are also great communicators. The moon in Gemini asks us to focus on balancing our world around us. The sun in Sagittarius asks us to push our boundaries outside our comfort zone.

This full moon I am focusing on reflection, fulfillment, balance, communication, and duality.

Things You’ll Need:

-Mirror

-White Candle

-Purple Candle

-Brown petition paper

-Pen

-Full moon water

-Manifest oil or olive oil and bay leaf ashes.

-Florida water for locking your mirror / cleansing your space, you can use holy water.

-A Bowl

-Hyssop oil

What to To Do:

Cleanse your space and all items, lock your mirror spiritually to protect you, and play some of your favorite music. Pick something calming yet something that keeps the energy up in your space and your overall personal power.

Sit down and start meditating on things you’d like to reflect on over the past year, something you want to remember and take with you into the new year, and things you want to manifest for yourself moving forward. Once you have those things in mind grab your brown petition paper and write them down on the paper. Turn the paper clockwise and sign the paper with your full name. Put a drop of full-moon water in the middle of your petition paper and put some manifest oil on the paper as well as the hyssop oil. Leave your petition paper on the mirror folded up for the duration of the spell.

Anoint your candles with the oils and if you would like to scribe your name into the candles do that as well.

Take your bowl and fill it with moon water, put it on top of the mirror and attach your prepped oils to the mirror. Light your candles.

While focusing on the things you meditated on and are hoping to bring into the new year drop the manifestation oil into the moon water. You are going to want to scribe with the water, reading the water as you would any other divination. What messages are you seeing? What pictures is the oil forming, are you feeling your ancestors pushing/guiding any messages for you? Pay attention to how you are feeling watching this oil and water dance. Do this for the duration of the candles burning.
