A Prayer To Your Ancestors While Offering Them Food

Good afternoon moon babes! Happy Monday! Today I wanted to share a prayer I wrote a while ago that I like reciting when I feed my ancestors. Not everyone prays while they offer food or things on their altar but in my practice this is very important. Take this prayer and swap any sentences or words that you might like and use it as your own! 

An example would be, when I'm ready to set a plate of food or even coffee down on the altar for my ancestors as an offering I would cleanse my hands, lay an incense offering down I will bow and then lay the plate onto their altar and then begin reciting this prayer. I only recite this one time as I lay offerings, however if you would like to recite this more than once you can totally do that. Light their candle and read the below:

Ancestor Offering Prayer:

Dear Ancestors, those who came before me,

With gratitude and reverence, I offer this food,

A plate of nourishment to honor your memory,

And to strengthen the bond between us, as I thank you for paving the way for me every day.

May the aroma of this food reach your ethereal senses,

And may the love in my heart infuse every morsel you accept in the spiritual rhelm.

I pray that you partake of this offering energetically and karmically,

May your spirits be uplifted, may they venerated, and your souls be full of love and energy.

As this food powers my earthly vessel, I pray that it may sustain your spiritual essence and power.

Nourish your presence and bring you peace and bring you health.

I remember you, I honor you, I cherish you.

Ancestors who’s wisdom and guidance flow through my veins, and those that are not of blood of my highest good.

I honor your legacy daily, and ask for your continued protection and grace while I maneuver my human life.

In this act of offering, I venerate and feed you spiritually and me physically.

I feel your presence, your love, and your energy surrounding me daily.

As we share this sacred meal in harmony.

Guide me, ancestors, in all that I do,

Thank you for your love, your wisdom, your light, and unwavering protection.

I pray that you are always blessed and accept this offering I make, In your honor, for you to take.
