Ancestor Candle - Deeper Connection Herbal Blend

Good morning moon babes! Today we are kicking of 31 days of Samhain with a herbal blend that is going to deepen your connection with your ancestors. This whole month will focus on a plethora of things but ancestral veneration will be a topic every week in preparation for the veil thinning.

We are focusing on deepening the spiritual connection you have with your ancestors of your highest good. We have prayers, offerings, cleansings, journal prompts and more all on ancestors' work from previous years if you want to check any of that out before or after this ritual as well! If your ancestors are of your highest good and you are into venerating and honoring them we will have a lot of workings for you and them this month so buckle in! And if you are someone who does not work with your ancestors you can do this with your spirit guides and deities but replace the herbs heavily for their needs.

For this month I will have a post for every day leading up to Samhain - I am going to make 2 of these posts a week available for the $5 tier but to access all of these daily posts they are going to be accessible from the $15 and up. Things you’ll need:

-Beet root

-Jasmine

-Mugwort

-Dandelion root

-Spilanthes

-Cornflower

-Hibiscus

-Olive oil

-Fireproof dish

-Incense / cleansing tool of your choice

-Purple 7 day candle

-White Candle 

-Black Chime Candle

-Fresh Pot of hot strong coffee

-Coffee cup with a saucer or plate for underneath it

-Cleansing tool of your choice -

-Fresh tobacco

How To Cast:

Start by cleansing your entire home / apartment from the back of your home to and through the front door. This can be done with incense, a smoke bundle, bells, sound bowl, brooms, clapping, anything you personally like to do to cleanse energy out of your space. For this because it is for my ancestors I make sure to use something that my ancestors like - I am going to use a sweet tobacco blend I found at my local cigar shop and burn it on a charcoal tab as I prep the herbs - so I will use this sweet tobacco smoke to cleanse the whole home from back to front, all the way out of the front door. 

Then lock your door, wash your hands with fresh clean water then holy water. Praying that this work brings you closer to your ancestors guidance, wisdom, and lessons. Once your hands are prepped, return to your altar, lay your coffee offering and begin to make the herbal blend.

Herbal Blend

For this blend you are going to want to make this and really spend time with it. I like making enough herbs left over for a bath for me to take for a few days (3 days.) Prep this herbal blend at your altar, you want to gather personal and ancestral energy to your space either by calling it down or drawing it from items that you want to use in this ritual. Once the energy has been gathered you can start grabbing your herbs one by one, activating them in a way you like. (There is a post on this on my page but quickly activating herbs is telling them what they are doing in a spell and why- energizing it before adding that element into your ritual.)

I like to pray over each herb, letting my ancestors and spirit guide me into how much of each they want and what order. Once all herbs are added into the mix I will add a few drops of Fountain Of Youth Oil and Ancestor Oil into the herbal blend then combine with my hands. Mix all of the herbs and oils together with your hands as you continue to pray. You can either use the prayer below or you can make up your own prayers for exactly what you are trying to learn and connect deeper on with your ancestors.

Once your herb is prepped you can dress the purple candle with a small amount of this herbal blend - you do not want to overload 7 day candles they can and WILL explode lol and we don't want that. Most of this herbal blend will sit on the base of the candle around it ON the fireproof dish - because your 7 day candle is in glass that herb will not get burnt. After your 7 day candle is finished take the herbs from the base of your fireproof dish and burry them outside your home. If you do not have a house with a yard (like me) I put this in a pot outside my door.

Candle Prep:

Purple 7 day - This candle is going to be the main candle of your working, and you must light this candle for at least 30 minutes every day for the first week after making it. TRaditionally you would let this candle burn for 7 days straight but many of us have pets, work, and other things that might get in the way of doing this. Make sure every time you re-light this candle you pray over it with the same prayers you did as you prepped the candle.

White - To strengthen the path to you and energy for your ancestors (for hoodooist we have our own reason for a white candle in this working iykyk)

Dress the white candle by etching your family's name in it, olive oil, and a small blend of jasmine and hibiscus. 

Black -This is going to be for your protection while you are casting this spell and drawing in your ancestors energy. 

Etch this black candle with a protection sigil or symbol of your choosing - I believe last year I showed you how to make a family sigil for protection if you do not have one set up already you can take some time to create and activate one then etch that sigil into your black candle.

Candle Setup: 

The 7 day purple candle will sit on one side of the black chime candle and then the other side the white. Put fireproof dishes for those candles ALL separate from each other so 3 little / large dishes. Light all 3 candles, lighting the black candle first, then purple, then the white. Praying over the candles with the spell I wrote below at least 3 times, letting the white and black candle burn down fully day one. Once the black and white candles are burnt down you can snuff out your purple candle for tomorrow's lighting if you wish.

I stand before you and myself asking with love

May this Bring me closer to your wisdom, 

Surround me with your love and protection,
May your wisdom and knowledge lead me through times of uncertainty.

I pray that you show me the way to strengthen our connection, 

I pray that you instill everything I need in me to understand your messages.

With each prayer,

With each lighting of this candle our connection grows deeper and stronger.
