i'm 50/50 when it comes to massages. sometimes i burst out laughing even from the slightest touch, or end up falling asleep. a long time ago, my friends and i got a massage at an airport. since our flight kept getting delayed, and seeing that everyone was stressed, my friend joked that we should all get a massage. we saw this massage place open with large windows but there was not a single light on in that place. there were lots of massage tables divided by curtains, and each "station" had a person waiting patiently for people to come in. before we walked in, we obviously checked the prices, and to our surprise they were hella affordable. usually everything at airports cost 200% more than it would outside of an airport, but not this massage place. this did raise a lot of red flags at the time, but i didnt say anything. we walk in, its about 4 of us and we were led to separate stations. there was music playing on some shitty speaker and what i think was the max volume. i honestly couldn't tell because that speaker sounded like it was thrown at a brick wall by a professional baseball pitcher then reassembled. though the smell of the place was soft, and smelt like a place i had been before. the lady who was tasked with massaging me was a sweet lady who reminded me of a neighbor. she asked if there were any specific issues that i wanted to be addressed. at the time i had some whacky neck pain from sleeping on our previous flight, so i told her if she could fix me up. as soon as she start the massage she went straight for my neck, and had the tightest grip around the back of it, like she was squeezing the last bit of juice from those juice pouches. i don't know if that was intentional or not because seconds later, her hands loosened her grip. around the 5 minute mark i suddenly felt the urge to just pass out. it was comparable to the feeling of taking allergy medicine, you just suddenly feel a weight of drowsiness come over you. could have this been caused by that tight squeezing at the start? maybe, but i still can't stop thinking about that. so there i was drowsy and laying on my stomache trying to fight the urge to fall asleep. i did not want to waste my money on a massage just for me to fall asleep barely 10 minutes in, that would be the worst thing that could happen. but no matter how hard i fought that feeling, i eventually fell asleep on that table LMAO. and apparently the lady kept massaging me, and was kind enough to let me sleep on that table for like another 20 minutes. my friends did wake me up and laughed at me for falling asleep. they even took a photo of my face squished into that massage table hole thingy. in the end, that awful feeling in my neck did go away! thank the lord for that asian lady, and don't worry i tipped her well!
