Weekly Progress #59
Added 2021-03-16 03:01:37 +0000 UTCHello hello everyone, and welcome back to Targa Florio!
I'm excited that F1 season is starting again soon. I hope we will see a better competition this year.
Anyway, let's get straight to the track :D
We've been quite busy for the last two weeks. Well, the fact that I have nothing to do at the office, and working on the track during office hours was a big factor hahaha.
Texturing still progressing, and the number of doors and windows texture keep rising lol.
Wall textures also has been prepared, they will be put into the track pretty soon.
Now we have animated trains! the line passing Cerda station and the coastal line from campofelice to Termini. We're working on the setting to make the train move based on the train schedule back in the 70s.
Hats off to Ilja and csp that can make this features availabe!
We've experimenting on placing the pitbox in floriopolis:

Obviously, there wont be enough space in Floriopolis for 30 cars if the pitboxes is arrange normally. But by placing them like this, it fits.
The only reason why I put the pitlane in Cerda station is because of space needed for at least 30 cars, and for them not to drive through other cars when they enter the pitbox. But I think it's worth the compromise if we can get the pitbos back to where it should be, the Floriopolis. what do you think? :D
There are some changes going on in Cerda. some building is gone, and some are added just like how it was in 1973.

this is the Motel Aurim, still in progress.

this building is the red building to the right:

and some more is coming as well.
And other thing we've been experimenting on is photogrammetry.
you guys probably saw in youtube about a track that was made with photogrammetry.
We actually considered drone mapping from the beginning of this project. But we didn't have the tools back then. And even now that we have the tool, well, the situation is not make it easy to travel to Sicily.
But if time and situation allows, we will see. Perhaps if not all the tracks, we could capture some of the iconic landmarks :)
Our friend Antonio, who is living in Caltavuturo, is now working closely to point out few things that needs to be adjusted, so that we can make this track even more resemble how it was back to the '73.
And in the near future, I hope we can bring you some more good news! so stay tuned! ;)
as always, stay safe, stay healthy, stay racing,
and thank you so much for your support!
Ci rivediamo presto! (did I get this right?)

Getting better all the time. And the best thing is that Custom Shader Patch for AC just implemented a function that gets rid of the physics shaking for large tracks, with an update to the graphical shaking probably coming too.

2021-03-22 01:14:31 +0000 UTCThe mention of photogrammetry and traveling to Sicily made me realize I might know of a certain big Targa Florio fan who also lives in Sicily and might be interested in helping the project. We'll see :)

2021-03-16 23:13:03 +0000 UTCI love the progress you are making. Try to keep the pit boxes and lane as historically accurate as possible. I'm looking forward to seeing the train.

2021-03-16 13:45:50 +0000 UTCA young girl I came to know recently who had corona got out of hospital last summer with negative PCR but still bound at home by persisting severe tachycardia and some weird signs of anemia. Weird things don't seem to be widely known. As you say we'd rather keep staying safe. Really anticipating to drive with train side by side. Fantastic.
2021-03-16 10:20:14 +0000 UTCI wondered when we'd get some gas stations around there, lol. And honestly, that's already more cars in pit lane than in real life, since it was typically full of people. That's a very clever idea that I don't think I've ever seen before.
