Test Build Alpha v.0.1.11

Hello hello everyone, and welcome back to Targa Florio!

First of all, of course, Happy New Year!

I hope you all had a great New Years Eve, whether you spend it with your family, friends, or even alone, like me! lol. The most important thing is that you enjoy it right? hahaha

2021 felt very short, yet looking back at it, there are a lot of things happened. and I want to share some of them.

But first, the track update :D

here is the Targa Florio v.0.1.11

and just in case, if you experiencing crashes when loading the track, use this alternative config file.

That crashes was caused by train animation that are only supported by higher version of csp

Change log:

in this version, we got more and more additional details around the track. Big shout out to Beni who is very detailed, and very meticulous about getting them right.

the physical limit has been expanded. Now, you won't be crashing straight into an invisible wall whenever you went out of track. Although it doesn't mean that we can drive across the map lol. It is still WIP though. Still need some fine tuning and there are a lot of section that need specific solution with the collision mesh. And there are some holes as well! especially on sideroads that were originally inaccessible.

But as long as you don't go out too far on these side road, you should be safe lol

Then the physical mesh and visual mesh is now in sync. No more tyres floating or sinking into the road surface.  But man, closing down the gap was a headache lol. Please let me know if you found a gap between the road and the surrounding that I missed!

I did a little experiment with the ambient occlusion, trying to bring back the lost details of wear on those walls. The reason why the wear marks was gone, is because I had to use tiled textures for the wall. So this time, I tried to put the wear marks on the AO textures.

not really bad, but not exactly good either. the AO textures are naturally quite low res, so the details became blurry. I might try to upped the AO texture's resolution and see if it has better result.

This month, with issue regarding physical mesh is out of the way, I will continue with texturing the rest of the buildings.

And now, about the things I want to share :D

About a year ago, I was contacted by Legion of Racers. They are one of the biggest e-sport team in Asia. Basically, LoR want to make a track around Orchard Road in Singapore, and I got commissioned to do so. I wish I could share this with you sooner but I was under NDA. But now that the track is out in the open, no more restriction lol.

If you haven't tried the track, it's on racedeparment

Please do have a go, and leave a good review if you would lol. It's still in development and we're planning to expand the track further around the center of Singapore.

And not only Singapore, in the future, our plan is to create more city circuit around Asia and make a championship, called the e-cities championship

Why am I promoting this? Well, because starting this month, I am officially joining Legion of Racers as a full time track maker! I resigned from my job last month, and today was my first day working full time with LoR.

oh I'm working remotely from home btw. LoR HQ is in Singapore, and I live in Jakarta.

But never in my wildest dream that I would actually working full time to make tracks lol. It won't be easy, and I have a lot more to learn about track-making. I got to start making my own asset library as well.

The great thing is, I can still work on Targa Florio as usual. I am only forbidden to make tracks for our competitor. (as much as it's sound very obvious, there is actually another e-sport team who contacted me because they also want to make a track :D)

So I would say, the start of 2022 is pretty exciting. Although I am a bit nervous to be honest. To leave the Architectural Visualization Industry which I've been working in for the past 20 years and into a new field, it's really stepping out of my comfort zone haha

But I know I want this. So wish me luck! :D

As always, thank you for all your support, and reading my awful writing :D

Stay safe, stay healthy, stay happy,

Great update once again. I did not manage a full lap yet but it looks very good. That is great that you can make a living doing what you enjoy the most. Thank you.

Congratulations on your new job, that's great!

That's great news! Lots of great news, especially your work situation. Congrats!

Andre

I wish you good luck with your new job. Track progress and the train is great!

Well done. I wish you all the best. I had already tried the Singapore track but it's Targa I love. Targa is my No.1 favourite and I have hundreds lol. So I hopeyou will still have time to finish it. Each time I get an update so many things I notice that I haven't noticed before but I am not always sure whether they are new to this release or maybe I just missed them previously. So much work already done. Thankyou for all your work.

That's a very brave step you've taken man! Congratulations! I'll be resigning from my job in two months as well, because I want to move to Germany. I wish you the best luck for this New Year my friend!

Thanks for the update ... your work is awesome ... just a couple of advice for the future ... first try to improve the the parked car randomness ( we did not have just fiat 500 in that period... lancia fulvia, fiat 1100, citroen pallas, bmw 2002, alfa romeo gt, matra simca were very popular in sicily at that time) ... and second add tons of olives trees and vineyards if you can ... we've been full of them since forever ! Thanks for your great work and congratulations on your new job position

Samuele Mollisi

proud to support you for so long, good luck in your new adventure. it must feel like a dream right now.

Thanks Abulzz for this update. I wish you my best wishes for this new job opportunity. You are very talented. New things are always scary, but when there is talent and the desire to learn new things, it is enough to have the patience to live the present moment without thinking too much about the future. Only in this way will we realize that we have done things that previously seemed unthinkable or too ambitious for our projects.
