From “Her_Stillness_Dances…on the Couches and Elsewhere”

How often are you impressed, long before you meet a person, and entirely because of their name? (Or, in the case of most models, their pseudonym.) From the first time I saw the model known as “Her Stillness Dances,” I’ve been taken by her name. The more I saw of photographers’ work with her, I became taken by her posing, her physique, and the emotional range in her expressions and gestures.
She works primarily in the SF Bay Area, so I imagined I might see a travel notification that she was booking sessions down in the Monterey Bay region. I haven’t so far. But then, at the first of Viv's Art & Figure Photo Workshops (If you want to sign on, then you should hurry. Her Portland, Oregon iteration is already sold-out. You can reach her at @vivian.cove on IG.)
HSD was one of the models with whom our gathering of photographers was privileged to work. In this set you get to see some of the results of shooting with her at a truly unique location south of the SF Bay Area. There are some poses inspired by Andrew Wyeth’s “Christina’s World” and, assuming some of our fans buy a few boxes to fund our future shoots with HSD, we’ll be looking for a suitable hillside, preferably with a similar farmhouse at the top of the ridge, and replicating that iconic image…though probably without the pink dress, and definitely without the figure emaciated by the neuromuscular disease afflicting Wyeth’s model and muse.
