Monthly Update : December 2023

DECEMBER 2023

Hello everyone, welcome back to our Monthly Updates!

This is an update I will be providing motnhly and purely for Patrons, as a quick way to show/tell you where I'm at now and what I want to do going forward.

As a start, welcome to December! Wow, I can't believe it's almost christmas time, but it is! With that I would like to talk about events in The Midnight Channel.

Events

This is a feature I will be starting in a littel bit with The Midnight Channel, it won't be in the next update but coming in an update soon. Events will work like how they did in my previous Midnight Channel game when I did the Halloween event. There will be triggers that need to be met, and once that's done, you will be able to start the event by talking to Teddie at the bunker.

These will reange and vary depending on what is available to you the player, progression will be needed for certain events to trigger. As a quick example, the first event I will be making available will be the Camping Event. This will play out similar to how it does in the 4th game, and the anime. Except with my own spin on it of course.

Going forward, I will have plans for Holiday Events, Story Events and a few for fun that I'm cooking up. Stay tuned for more information on them!

Next Update

I don't have a name for this updaet officially, but I would like to start doing that again as soon as I get this one release. It will be the last of just purely numbered names and it will be the beggining of labelling the updates with titels.

This will work out well for a number of different reasons, but for now I'll just say that I don't have a name for it.

When is it releasing? Sometime early deember, that's all I know right now. It was going to release sooner than this, but I have pakced in so much more than originally intended, and now it's taking longer to develop.

I will say though that this update is really helping me see the gameplay loop and how this game is playing out. I'm really enjoying watching it grow, and I am having fun in palytests with it too. It's starting to feel like a living/breathing world I am toying around with.

Whatever magic I had with the original game, I'm startig to feel that again in this one!

I will have more to talk about this event closer to releasing it, but for now I'll just quickly say that ithis event is bringing a TON of quality of life features, some new scenes, 3 new skills to learn, plenty of photos to unlock and a lot more storyline to go through! you can see why it's taking me a bit longer with this one!

Polls

Alright, now to the juicy stuff again. I know this year has been interesting as I have used and not used polls for my releases. I'm officially going to be returning to the Polls for Patrons again. This served as a really good way for you the player to twist the game and shape it to update the way you want.

I will say here and now though that I will also be placing updates in when I want them, so I can't guarantee new polls every month, mostly jsut every update.

Stay tuned as one of these polls will be popping up right after the release of this next big update!

The Midnight Channel

Folks have asked me a lot of questions recently and I'm not sure how to answer all of them. The biggest one I get is which girls will be in this game. I"m trying my best to get them all, if you can think it or imagine it, I'm trying for it!

The other thing is people are wondering if they can play early releases to the game. I'm considering this, but I'm not sure how I feel about it. It can cause issues with people's save files, and I really don't want to troubleshoot that while I'm also developing the new releases.

I may do it, but only for Patrons. That would make it a lot easier for me to track and discuss with the players as they go about it.
